I have to watch the replay but looking at the total scores you must be right. Very weak field. So much lower than the other GPs. 253 for the winner is really weird.I am very happy to see happy crying Kevin, that is so exciting for him to win his first GP event!
That being said, this event was an absolute disaster and I regret watching this sober. Congrats to Vladimir Litvinsev for having the only clean program and the skate of the night for me (I cannot believe I just said that), to Kazuki for getting a GP medal, to Kevin Aymoz for winning a GP (also what, what just happened, but at least he looks so happy) and hopefully all the other athletes can come back stronger in their next event. I will be coming back with some alcoholic refreshments.
I am sorry, I am honestly not being mean, but your typo is so apt for what we just saw and have the whole GP seriesI am not so sure who is the fave for the rest of the men's odium now.

Last year GP France 246.58 was gold and 233.84 was silver.253 points gold medalCrazy
Sorry in advance, but Jason has not had a signature long program since Riverdance, over a decade ago. I feel that every long he's had this decade has been exactly the same program set to different music. No actual interpretation.Someone mentioned that Jason should consider going back to Sinnerman. Might be worth it as his 'swan song". This version of "Say Something is a bit dreary.

Got to see Flores and Wang. Loved what I sawWow, this was not good at all. But in fairness Skate America is looking pretty weak on tallent. Jason Brown could have won this event with a good freeskate. Without a quad. This was so so not impressive but consistent with the other events. The pairs was equally as bad other than the Japanese. What is going on. Is everyone waitng til the olympics? In part this might just be a weaker quadrennial which happens. But the skates here were not great. The programs not that exciting Mikaildid not look good here and cemented there is Ilia and then...Mikail, Egaze, the inconsistent French duo, the inconsistent Italian Trio, quadless Brown., inconsistent Cha. It is still early relatively in the season and the scores tend to get higher and inflatdd come olympics but this isn't great. I guess exciting still. Ilia for men looks so far ahead and I am not so sure who is the fave for the rest of the men's odium now.
i 2 am i was still in the middle of a date with a couple of drinkswhere is @elektra blue
he is on my notepadVladmir Litvintsev... Another nominee for WTF costume awards, methinks @elektra blue
Apart from him, the costumes were not too WTF... which was a nice change.he is on my notepad
honestly they're all very plain this season, which is not a nice change for meApart from him, the costumes were not too WTF... which was a nice change.
I think it’s something like this:Wow, this was not good at all. But in fairness Skate America is looking pretty weak on tallent. Jason Brown could have won this event with a good freeskate. Yes it was AshleyKevin's first 4T should have been a downgrade. But then Mikhail shouldn't get 8s for composition. In the end all this math is just tiring. Whoever wins, I don't mind, let it be Kevin for a change. Was it Ashley Wagner who interviewed him?
I think what makes this event seem so much worse is the free skating. There were some good scores in the short program but the free skates were mostly pretty disastrous.Last year GP France 246.58 was gold and 233.84 was silver.
if you landed something, you shouldn't be in this thread. LOLTo defend the men a bit - and honestly, I'm not sure how I landed here -
Olympic years are indeed sometimes weird... Some skaters are prepared too early and do not do well at the Games, I know a few things about that one... and some skaters do take a bit of extra time to rest during the off-season (sometimes to take care of injuries) as they know they will not peak twice in the season. Usually, skaters will aim to have a good GP season, then rest, then a good Worlds. Now, some of them though they will take part in the GP series, are only aiming to peak for February. There is not a lot of time from GP to Olympics to have another rest period to peak twice, so some will decide to start slower... This being said, what we saw yesterday is worse than what I have observed in other GPs and in other Olympic seasons.it's still relatively early in the season, and I'm not sure we should be projecting a poor Olympic season yet.
Some will get better. I am sure skaters will be more in shape and jumps will be better. But some programs are also very ill-conceived and that will not improveThink about it. How much do you think these programs must have improved in the last three months - since middle of August? Well, we still have three more months for things to get even better. I'm an optimist in this regard.
