British National Championships, 26-30 November 2025

Fun fact for you, according to skating scores since 2008 (when the record there begins) We've never had more than 2 junior pairs teams compete. This will be the first time since I don't know when that a bronze medal will be awarded!

It certainly makes for a more fun competition

I am also wondering when we last had more junior pairs competing than junior ice dance teams?

Wikipedia goes back to 1998.

Last time there was a 🥉 Bronze Medal awarded in Junior Pairs was 25 years ago in the 2000-01 Season, when it was won by Olivia McCOY / Jaymes MONTE (DUN). There were actually 4 partnerships competing that year, so Nicola McNAB / Matthew HERBERT (CHE) misssed out on a medal.

I don't know about the last time there were more Junior Pairs than Junior Ice Dancers, but in the 2006-07 Season they both had two partnerships. And the 🥈 Silver Medallists in Pairs were the only Pairs skaters that I know of to come out of Northern Ireland (or, indeed, Ireland full stop!): Tameron DRAKE / Edward ALTON.

I think Tameron is still the reigning Northern Ireland Junior Ladies Champion, as it has been so long since the NI Championships were held...

Hope this helps

Shame about the axel for Lloyd. That will be a costly error.
I assume he wanted to go for the triple axel, it's a bit of a bugbear for him. I wish he would do a few more competitions, of course I don't know what the reason is for not but I feel like it could maybe help.

How stunning were Edward & Arin! Wowowow! 😯

Does anyone know who choreographed Edward's SP? He performed it so well too, apart from the ending finishing after his music stopped. The dark theatricality and gothic styling was just way beyond his years.

And Arin Omg! Swindon is attracting quite the stable of skaters flocking there now. It really is becoming the top rink! I thought both men were underscored for what they performed. I'd rather see that quality and clean programs than 3A or Quads.

I think you're being a bit optimistic, but there's no harm in hoping! I am expecting the podium to be some combination of Hase/Volodin, Metelkina/Berulava, and Conti/Macii.
And the Hungarians are realistically the most likely to take advantage of any big mistakes for those 3. If they finish top 5 again with a PB score they will have done well. They haven't been as consistent this season compared to last year.

David Richardson from Dundee choreographed Ed's programme. He then was polishing it in Tallinn with Anna Levandi and Olga Dabrytskaya

I thought that was a great skate from Kristen. Shame about the axel but the rest was really good.

She looks happy too. Fabulous that she's back.
