Didn't like seeing Nakata going out there with a fractured foot and obviously uncomfortable, still I think the Korean was the better skater anyway.

Shimada had an easy victory, the jumps are very low now I wonder if she'll struggle next year like Petrosian is this year (although landed two wonky 4T's a couple weeks ago) who always had low jumps (Petrosian might be a little bigger as well). But with such low jump height it won't take much to disrupt those jumps more if she has a growth spurt.

Kanazawa's coach what was she thinking making her do the 3A it wasn't even close to be landed, and Mark was saying she wasn't landing them in practice? Why make a 13 year old do it then? If she left out the 3A she wins silver.

Bragging points for the JSF I guess. They want the headlines and to disrupt the narrative that only banned skaters are attempting ultra-cs. Kanazawa is in Mie Hamada's camp, so do with that information what you will. I really like her skating, has a great lutz as well. But I fully agree that she didn't need it.

Rhythm dance was pretty good. Junior men managed to deliver 3/6 clean skates, which was a great showing. Didn't feel like watching women and pairs so far. Maybe next weekend.

I am sad for Mayuko, I didn't expect her to finish last here especially after her amazing free skate at the Japanese junior nationals :(
Hopefully she'll go to Junior Worlds (cmon JSF) and can put a redemption skate there.

Rio, I really hope his stress fracture can heal properly and won't get chronic - especially as he's finally going to senior next season.... I'm worried since there's still Japanese senior nationals and I'm sure he wants to podium again there. I hope his team (and parents) can put some sense in him

The standard was so high across the board at this final but ice dance was my favourite competition. I think Perrier Gianesini and Blanc Klaperman have a very good shot at the Junior World title. They were excellent but they are capable of more.

Though she may have been last, I think Mayuko Oka is a very special skater and her programs are wonderful. She just has presence.

So many great juniors! I am much more inclined to watch them than the seniors these days!
I watched the Women for the first time and was very impressed by the quality of skating and the variety of styles. I liked them all!
Ice Dance: Layla and Alexander had a superb FD! The winners of the GP deserved it, though I must admit that the Diva posturing is not my cup of tea. I actually enjoyed them all but with an added  for Dania and Theo's sunny personalities. Loved the shout out to the drummers upon entering the rink.
