Music you wish someone would skate to

Has anyone skater to Fade into You by Mazzy Star? Preferably a ice dance team RD. They lost an opportunity with 90s theme music. You can get any 90s than this song. Plus some of the choices were SO 1980s this years! I guess they stretched the rules if in a movie soundtrack in the 1990s?
No. I always wanted to ice dance to it, but we couldn't when I was competing b/c lyrics. Sadly, no one has performed to it yet that I know of and it would be so amazing.

On a more serious note a wish that is likely to be granted next season: Huntrix! Yes, that's the girl band from KPop Deamon Hunters. I think "What it sounds like" already has the structure for a free. And "Golden" needs probably minor reshuffling to fit a short. I'm pretty sure both will be used next season. I even feel the possibility of a future warhorse here.
Then you'll probably love this.

i could see a couple of junior girls skating to this but sadly more than often their teams go for warhorsy stuff

(my 5 yo nephew is into this btw

The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 soundtrack. I was gutted to not find any programs this season.

Sadly I think by the time the game was released and the score started to get the widespread acclaim that it very much deserves, it was a bit late in the game for this season...hopefully next season it will show up!

It's also worth noting that the title screen theme is exactly the right length for a short program, without any cuts. There are a few vocal and musical accents that would be great for jump placement, and the step sequence would fit nicely over the cello solo.

Just IMHO: I know that not many on this forum like French music, but I happen to think some french songs are very suited for figure skating routines: Josée Chouinard's "Avec le temps" routine is one of my all time favourite, but some skaters using Édith Piaf's (Kathleen Osmond) or Charles Aznavour's songs (Nathan Chan) created memorable programs worth rewatching from time to time.

One of my favourite (French) songs I would like to see somebody skate to is "Il est où le bonheur" by Christophe Maé:

NB: Sofja Stepcenko used this song for her long program in 2023 - but never skated to its full potential:

personally i don't like only those kind of chanson the make you want to kill yourseld by swallowing nails (like ne me quitte pas), i'm fine with cheerful song even by Aznavour and i'm totally fine with Edith Piaf

I think I've mentioned this before in similar threads, but how about " The Moldau" by Smetana?
Seeing "The Moldau" mentioned takes me back to 5th grade when we did The Phantom of the Music Room as the musical in the spring. That show put words to classical music, and that piece was one of them.

I need a sibling dance team to use this as an exhibition number. I've brought this idea up before, but there are also so many more sibling teams now than there were when this idea first came to my brain.

Since I went down a Trout Fishing in America rabbit hole, this track has always been my favorite, and would also make a great exhibition number.

I just wanted to say that I do like French music, but most of the songs and pieces that get chosen for skating to are so depressing.

I would imagine that this song would be more up your street:

Alizée - "J'Ai Pas Vingt Ans"

I know! Shock! Horror! CaroLiza_fan linking to a song from Corsica's finest that isn't "J'En Ai Marre"! :drama:

Has anybody ever skated to any Alizée song? I can't remember it ever happening before.

Hey, now that I think of it, "J'Ai Pas Vingt Ans" fits in nicely with the theme of the discussion in the other thread. So, maybe somebody should use it to make a point...

I wish someone would skate to Wieniawsky's VC no.2, the adagio is a complete peace of music ready to use with minimal cutting. Here it is starting from the bridge, performed by young Shlomo Mintz, whose violin's timber is unusually luscious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYzYVsvD5as&t=613.
Also, Louis Spohr's VC no.7's adagio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyRphOK-RiE. The whole concertos are actually pretty good, certainly competitive with Vieuxtemps no.5, to which Ilia's mom won GPF.
But I don't know who would want this nowadays, probably nobody.
Schumann, Aria from sonata no.1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQYo4nShYoA, although it might be a bit quiet for a stadium. I don't know who could pull it off now, one would really need classical lines.

Avec le temps was a great program. I tried to find it... didn't...

I don't like Voilà... and the suicidal songs of Stromae used by some skaters right now. Of course, Je suis malade is a no no... :)

There are a lot of good French songs, some are emo... some are not.. but the issue is that skaters/choreos only pick the ones I don't like :)

the issues is that teams usually pick the same songs, with the same cuts. if for some reason a emo/malade french song makes it to competition, you'll see it over and over again, like Stromae.

speaking of cool french songs

Not good quality, but this is what I saved in my "collection" :

1. Josee Chouinard : “Avec le Temps” - 2001 Canadian Professional Championship:

Also, this, for a different look:

2. Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron - “Avec le temps” - Gala (2021 Torino Grand Prix Final):

I just saw The Testament of Ann Lee and I really hope someone is inspired to choreograph an ice dance program to that score! Since there's a prominent sister and brother in the film, I'm imagining the Taschlers, the Mrazaks or the Browns, but I also feel like the film's choreographic style could really suit Green/Parsons.

Before I forget: I wish some ice dance team skated to this... with a rumba/cha cha cha pattern!

You like this one?

You like this one?
I don't 😁
I am visioning a cha cha pattern for "carry that weight" section because I prefer skaters grooving each other into the idea rather than dancing around it if you follow my thought. Also, the proper steps would have been rather hard to do: you need to listen to the background drum really closely because you don't receive an overwhelming tum-tum-tududum straight away. Plus, it would have been a non-cliche interpretation of Cha Cha Cha dance as well as a non-cliche interpretation of Beatles music.

Thanks for bringing up this video though. It was interesting to see how this piece of music was fitted for a free dance.
