2025 Japanese Nationals - Men's SP

Sato should be set for a spot as long as he does decently in the LP, I think?

For me, Miura is the better choice for that third spot than Tomono, but it'll all depend on how it shakes out.
Shun doesn't need the podium the way Kao and Kazuki do, but it would help if he doesn't implode tomorrow. It would also be a bit weird if the Olympian has never medaled at senior Nationals..... at all.

My heart is hoping for a breakthrough for Kazuki but at the same time I understand if they give the scores to Kao when his body and head are able to deliver.

Kao Miura's interview after SP:

"It was tough throughout the season. My skating was going well, so I wondered why I couldn't do it. There were many times like that, but I never gave up and pushed myself harder than ever. The other skaters were pushing themselves, and of course that's only natural, but I was determined not to lose. But I kept my focus on myself. I'm glad I was able to perform it in the short program, and I'm relieved. But there's still the free program, and I think my challenge this season is that free program. I'll let go of this joy in about an hour and switch my focus to the free program."

Why is Shun always like this at Nats😭😭😭

He skated after Ilia and was absolutely fine!!!! Why why why is he like this at Nats?????
It’s okay! Sato should be just fine as long as he holds up in the free. The real story for the men is Miura vs Tomono. Besides, Sato didn’t do badly at all. I always say if a skater is going to pop a quad, then pop into a triple. The loss of points isn’t as huge.

BREAK

Nakata is not age-eligible for the Olympics.

SP: 88.05 (3rd)
he did lose some points on the levels and fluke fall but imo he deserved more GOE on those steps and PCS

LET'S GO KAZUKI!!!!!!!!!!! This program is so fun and I love that Misha, his choreographer, is here to watch it performed live. No one has Kazuki's musicality and precision when it comes to hitting those musical accents. I so badly want four spots for Team Japan at the Olympics, because both he and Kao bring such quality. That will absolutely keep him in the medal race, I'd put that into second place based on the performance quality.
Shae Lyn Bourne did Kazuki's sp..Misha did the FS..Misha is back listed as one of Kazuki's coaches.

Sorry for the delay, I unexpectedly fell asleep for a couple of hours

Links are to video of entire Groups rather than individual performances
Unfortunately, my recordings of Groups 4 & 5 had severe lag so I'm currently rerecording these groups
Also, I did experience some stream glitches during a few programs but can't remember where it happened during the Men's SP
and haven't had time to check thoroughly

Videos are not high quality but can be viewed in up to 720p by clicking on the settings gear
Please let me know if there are any major issues with the links or videos

I got so used to watching ISU streams that I forgot how limited TV coverage is. And like tsuyoboogie, I fell asleep during the commercial break and missed Shun completely. WTF happened? Was thrilled for Kao, but frustrated by Kazuki - his short is so good and perfect for him, but he has to skate clean!!!!! And even Yuma had a bit of a whoopsie. Just shows how high the stakes are. Not sure if I'll have any fingernails left by the time the competition ends.
