Soldati/Tagliabue won Junior Ice Dance ahead of Bianchi/Basile.
A sort of reverse compared to JGP season where B/B scored a bit higher than S/T
PCS marginally in favor of B/B. However, issues with twizzles for Zoe Bianchi (in RD she got level 2 and negative GOEs; in FD again level 2) and Level 1 in the FD steps made the difference.

Now Senior Ice Dance about to begin.

- Made some changes to the FD.
- Marco says realistically they won't win Europeans because "the Olympic champion came back with a new girl"
- last month training without Barbara who had health problems

Now Barbara
- now she is healthy, back this week after hospitalization
- this is likely to be last National Championship for Marco and Charlene
- Olympic season is always traumatic
- in the first GP she had a strange impression, like they wanted to get rid of us before the home Olympics
- Chock/Bates "don't drive me crazy" (probably doesn't sound well translated. It is an Italian expression to say you don't like too much something).

The team for Europeans is now set (Gutmann, Joos and Pezzetta) as Piretta was already 4th in the internal ranking.

If I'm not mistaken, the committee said they would take world standing into account? If that's correct, then Rizzo's position is stronger since he's in the top 10.

yes, it is one of the elements they should take in consideration if they deviate from the ranking

Article 32 of the regulation

In the event that the difference in ranking points between two or more athletes competing for the designation is less than or equal to:

• 30 points in the male category
• 20 points in the female category
• 20 points in the pairs category

the Technical Commission may propose the convocation of athletes in the next ranking positions. The choice will also take into account the ISU Ranking and, for the Junior Worlds, YOG and EYOF, the performance of the compulsory elements in the Short Program.

Article 35

In order to ensure that the best performing athletes are entered in the Olympic Games and ISU Championships, the Technical Commission may in any case propose, with its own reasoned opinion, designations in deviation from these Rules, taking into consideration additional parameters, listed below:

• for men, women and pairs: the average of the total scores obtained in all competitions valid for ranking purposes; the success of execution of the elements (percentage of correct execution, including the level, of the elements in the competitions performed); the consistency of the various performances in the competition; the result of direct clash competitions in which all the designable athletes participate
• for men: the consistency of performing two quadruplets in the short program and at least two quadruplets in the free;

I hope Matteo can go. Not that I dislike Memola (his successful landings are to die for, but alas that does not happen all the time), but he can go next time, right? I don't know if Matteo will continue.

I don't dislike Memola either but Matteo is just a more fully developed skater and this is likely his last chance at the Olympics.
