In fact, Liza retired at the start of the 2023 season

I think a major piece of the puzzle for Liza was that she seemed to be frustrated that she couldn't compete internationally anymore. I remember her saying something about it.
She used to be a very busy competitor. Doing GPs and almost always 2-3 Challengers per year, and sometimes other international competitions too. And add to that all the domestic competitions in Russia. She seemed to love to travel and compete...

I saw her skate live once, and she was unforgettable. I wish her all the best in her future endevours.

Let’s remember her as she was when she won the silver at Stockholm Worlds. I was never happier for her than I was that day!

I said it in the Gala thread at the time, and I am not ashamed to say it again here:

I was in floods of tears the whole way through that.​

Even just thinking about it is making me well up again. So, I think it will be a while before I am able to watch it again.

Liza was my favourite skater of the past decade and a half.

I know she retired years ago, but I still wasn't ready for this moment.

So, to mark the formal end of Liza's competitive skating career, for the rest of 2025 I am going to wind the clock back 11 years and go back to my old avatar and custom title.
