2026 U.S. Nationals Senior Pairs Free Skate

He's Russian. His father is American and he lived in the US as a child. I guess his parents never bothered to apply for US citizenship when he was a child. I bet he wishes they would have. They could be going to the Olympics.

That's odd, isn't US citizenship automatic for children of US citizens?

I have to wonder if an interview that Meagan Duhamel gave on the live show of the Runthrough podcast may have come back to haunt S/N. Meagan basically said that S/N were not aiming to win a 3rd spot for the US at the Beijing Olympic Qualifier because they were aiming to win the 1st spot by winning Nationals this year.

I do not think that was a factor. I think mistakes by Audrey & Balasz decided it. They will get a spot but to 4CC instead.

Took about 11 hours but I made it to St Louis. Lucky to be here. Disappointing start tbh, the top pairs didn't skate super well. Lots of nice lifts tho. Fingers crossed for the women.

If the child is under 18 and born abroad (as Daniil was), they will easily receive citizenship but his/her American parent has to report the birth to the US embassy and apply for a passport. Clearly, Daniil's father never did this. This opportunity is no longer available once the child reaches 18.

I do not think that was a factor. I think mistakes by Audrey & Balasz decided it. They will get a spot but to 4CC instead.

The irony though is had they cared to aim for the US 3rd spot, then they would be going to the Olympics instead of 4CC.

I've heard (and this is just Internet rumours, so take it with a grain of salt) that there is a bipartisan group of US Senators trying to get Alisa citizenship, but at this point, they need it by either tonight or Sunday to get named to the team and they may have to rely on a magical intervention from the president. It sounds like her team has tried every avenue, but they need a miracle at this point.

To be honest, I don't think the President can award citzenship. It has to be an act of congress. As much as I would like them to go the Olympics, I say their chances of getting citzenship in time are 1/100.

Do you really think it is that settled? I prefer Chan/Howe because their pair elements are a lot better and they are better performers. However, with a skate like they had here in the SP they might not make the FS. I suspect it will be tough for USFS to decide who to send to the Olympics. I wish Chan/ Howe had a better SP they have a much higher ceiling.

Alisa and Misha, Ellie and Danny come across as good people. They project human frailties but show genuine sportsmanship. I am sorry for Alisa that her citizenship will likely not come through. I am very happy that Danny will (likely) will be going to the Olympics and I thinking/hoping that this will be Ellie and Danny's moment to put it all together and score top 8. The second US team for the Olympics? I'm leaning to Emily and Spencer but there will be alot of analysis on this one.

At CS Trialeti Chan /Howe scored 71.17 for the SP. This SP here was such a fluke. BOW
