2026 Canadian Nationals : Women's Long Program

You know, to be only six points behind Maddie with all those mistakes, I think it's pretty clear the judges were willing to give it to her. If you had put back in the triple that she doubled, as well as the double axle she's singled, and fixed a couple of the tiny jumping errors, she would have been closer to 140.

I think it will be a little humiliating to Maddie if she ends up finishing second with the Clean Program that she skated, so I hope for her sake that isn't the case ...

I'm not sure that Minsol is really selling the attack and attitude needed for this tango-ish music but she is nailing all the jumps - although it looks like there might be a couple minor rotation calls

I don't think knowing that the judges would have been willing to give it to her with just one or two mistakes less, which is very clearly the case here, will help her at all - If anything, it makes it harder, because you end up with nobody else to blame but yourself :(

Oh, I agree with you 100%, - it probably makes it more frustrating. But I'm just saying that the judges certainly seemed open to the possibility should she have been clean.

So far it looks like Maddie MIGHT end up finishing second after all ... particularly given that she was about three points behind going into the free skate.

I suspect the judges will still give it to maddie, but this was a great debut

Well Minsol Kwon was lovely, but it's a little odd to watch someone for whom it's basically an exhibition compared to other women for whom there is so much on the line.

I'd be curious to hear from someone in the arena about her speed. I thought she looked quite slow at times, especially through some of the footwork.
