2026 Olympics: Where Will You be Watching?

Whew...the venue feed on peacock says world feed with no commentary. The other feeds for the events say tv commentary which means tara and johnny. 🤢
I'm not trusting Peacock. The last event I watched the tile said "World Feed" but I got Johnny and Tara.

My bet is that I get the main NBC feed, with Andrea Joyce's pointless jabbering as the cherry on top. "Max, how does it feel to skate at the Olympics when your parents are cold in their graves?" "Ilia, tell us about the quad axel for the third time this hour."

At least I'll be able to look forward to commentary from Snoop Dog, a man who's plugged in to winter sports like no other drugged up rapper you can name.

Question about this--it says we have to sign up with that Gem site, but when I tried to do so, it won't take my zip code because I'm not in Canada, just using my VPN set to Canada. Is there no way to view events at all? I was able to use the cbc.ca/sports site before with the VPN. Is something different now?
Try here to see if the streams work, they should be showing curling now with Watch as an option -https://www.cbc.ca/sports/streaming-schedule

Well shoot...it looks like J sports 1-4 is not covering it......
And this is why you have to double-check modes of viewing before posting them...

I tried. You have to sign in to watch, and I can't because I can't create an account in Canada. So I'm not watching the Olympics anymore, looks like. Maybe I can't watch Worlds either since watching ISU skating is now refusing VPN use. In that case, I'll likely never see any of it again. I'll live, just not see anything not allowed in the US. I don't have or want TV, and I don't want to 'try' to bother with that Peacock nonsense either.

and it works with VPN, so I may decide to ditch my national broadcaster and their shitty commentary
If I try this, would I need to set my VPN to Germany?

Oh! I tried Germany and it works--at least on the curling. Is there an English-speaking country out there whose VPN might work?

I haven't used Gem site, but in Canada (or VPN set to Canada) cbc.ca/sports will have coverage for free, I used it many times before, unless there is a crackdown on VPNs (I had youtube videos working before and now it gives me "VPN/Proxy detected" for whatever reason).

I hear you about Peacock - it buffered me out of nationals repeatedly. CBC and ISU won’t work. NBC maybe? Can I watch anything when I am working? NBC won’t let me in without name, address, location, no vpn and cable subscription (?) so I guess I am out as well. Maybe in a month I will find out who won - I will have to leave the forum to avoid spoilers. See you in a month…

I hope they get the least viewers ever

As of today at least, I cannot watch anything on cbc.ca/sports without setting up an account, and that needs a Canadian zip code. This must be something brand new as I have used it in the recent past! Oh, well.

No no no. We're not doing the Olympics without you. So figure it out pronto.

Thank you! I can't understand the language unfortunately but I may get to tune in from time to time. I'm 'in Germany' right now...only wish I knew the language or could find an English-speaking alternative that didn't force one to 'set up an account' which only takes a local zip code.

Maybe BBC? They have some free stream but most of it is on discovery+ paystream. Or RTE from Ireland but I think you'd have the same problem as with canada. you need to sign in on their RTE player

here are the figureskating links for the German stream

Wow--thank you for the links! This will help me not have to look everything up from scratch. Is this for live streaming only, or will some be left for at least a short while? If I watch the team events this way, I'll literally need to stay up all night. Not sure I'm up to that at my age.
