2026 Olympics: Where Will You be Watching?

As of today at least, I cannot watch anything on cbc.ca/sports without setting up an account, and that needs a Canadian zip code. This must be something brand new as I have used it in the recent past! Oh, well.
It has been several years but when I set up my CBC Gem account I just did a search for Canadian postal codes and input a Toronto postal code in the box where it was asking for zip code/postal codes. My Gem account is still working for me and I can currently watch live curling. Here is a site listing some Toronto postal codes:

Wow--thank you for the links! This will help me not have to look everything up from scratch. Is this for live streaming only, or will some be left for at least a short while? If I watch the team events this way, I'll literally need to stay up all night. Not sure I'm up to that at my age.
they have an app, too called ARD Mediathek and you can watch it there but I am not sure if they will have it on the website, too. I will try to find out. But now I need to watch Max on Kelly Clarkson show.

Thank you--but I don't think I want to do this. It'd be just my luck to get into serious trouble trying it. Anyhow, glad you have the means to use the Canadian Gem site. I found it odd that both the Gem site as well as the regular CBC site makes one fill out the exact same form when signing up for an account. Both get relegated to the same radio Canada something-or-other site in order to register.

I can't use an 'app' because I only have a custom-built wired-in PC. I have nothing wireless, etc. No 'smart phone' but I wouldn't use one for that anyhow I don't think.

try this https://www.ardmediathek.de/sport I think if they have it on replay it will be there
I will sure try that if I am unable to watch live--thank you! If there is nothing to 'register' or 'sign up' for maybe it'll work? I'm already 'out of Germany' and don't want to go traipsing around the globe using too many VPNs if you get my drift. I already can't get into the ISU Olympics site because it 'detects a VPN' even though it's local, very close to my town. This Nord VPN is more than just a country-visiting site; if offers lots of protections, too. And I understand Nord is one of the VPNs being cracked down on. This is brand-new, I guess because of 'the Olympics'.

Oops--this won't work for me because one has to 'register' so that's out. I didn't see that the sportschau.de site needed registering but anything could change between now and when events start, after the official 'opening ceremonies'.

My Peacock tiles tell me that the Team Event Day 1 is going to start about 3AM my time, so I'm going to be watching on delay anyway, and I'm sure they'll be plenty of spoilers online.

It's fine. The Day 2 apparently starts about 1PM my time. I have no idea how this makes any sense, but whatever.

Maybe our friend who puts up live.qq.com/10012776 will be showing some of this--it uses the Japanese feed. It's a thought, anyway.

For my dear friend @labgoat I just remembered.

Here is a link to an East Coast NBC station. I've used it in emergencies to watch the main feed on my computer:

I think some of the skating may be on USA network. So here you go for that, too:

I don't know if any of this is geoblocked, or even legal. Looks all kinds of sketchy, but the FBI hasn't come knocking on my door yet.

Here is my TV schedule post for the figure skating at the 2026 Olympics. (As the Sky EPG only shows a week in advance, this post will get edited as the Games go on).

Unfortunately, it is not as comprehensive as I would have liked.

Apart from on Friday, the descriptions on the BBC broadcasts do not tell us what they are showing. So, I have just listed all the broadcasts that are on at the times when there is skating happening. Hopefully some of them will include skating.

I would normally include in these posts the times when Discovery+ is streaming. But, I’ve given up trying to make sense of them. The times and descriptions of a lot of them aren’t tallying with the Coloured Time Schedule, and I am getting thoroughly confused.

However, I got a shock. Most of the skating is also being simulcast on TNT Sport’s Ultra High Definition channel! 😲

Figure skating in UHD?! This could be amazing, or a curse!

Hope this helps.

Maybe BBC? They have some free stream but most of it is on discovery+ paystream. Or RTE from Ireland but I think you'd have the same problem as with canada. you need to sign in on their RTE player

here are the figureskating links for the German stream

Thank you so much for the link! I was able to click on and get into it today. Can only hope I will be able to access the live videos when the competition starts. Nearly every country wants me to 'register' and for that I'd need a local zip code. If for any reason it doesn't work, I'll either try the qq link, or just read about the competitions later.

Well, I may have been peacocked! I went to "search" and low and behold, I could scan a QR code and use my phone for a keyboard. I put in figure skating and there were all the events. I bookmarked all the venue feed events, then went back and book marked all the USA network join in progress events to watch in the evenings. (I will also record NBC rabbit ears) I was about done when I got a message that something went wrong and I couldnt book mark the last event I was working on...try again later. So I went to book marks and the the whole folder was empty!
I will check tomorrow and see if they have come back. This has happened before.

fellow Canadians, I created an account which is something I had never done for watching live events... is this mandatory ? I couldn't care less because it really didn't imply much but I am curious to see if we do have to do it or can just get away without doing it.

It is mandatory with Gem. I used it for Paris 2024 and got annoyed with it never keeping me logged in on Roku.

It has been several years but when I set up my CBC Gem account I just did a search for Canadian postal codes and input a Toronto postal code in the box where it was asking for zip code/postal codes. My Gem account is still working for me and I can currently watch live curling. Here is a site listing some Toronto postal codes:
Thank you--I had posted earlier that I wasn't comfortable trying to do this, but I finally did so--through my Google account which I hope will get me back into it. Only the 'free' version though--I am wary of 'signing up for premium anything' then not being able to cancel the freebie part later. Many PC related things seem difficult for me. Maybe I am just too old or something, lol. I did notice that trying to watch some curling my stream got that wheelie thing that goes round and round after a few minutes. This option may or may not work OK for me but I appreciate your help.

@labgoat and everyone who uses a VPN: I've figured out a workaround. If you have a VPN like NordVPN, get a dedicated IP address. It's more expensive, so I'm just doing it for a month, but it allows you to bypass Youtube geoblocking restrictions because it looks like a real IP address; you're the only one using it. The countries are limited, but Canada usually has the ISU videos un-blocked on Youtube, and if they're not on Youtube, they'll be on CBC Gem. I created a CBC Gem account using a zip code I found on the Internet (just Google a specific Canadian city zip code) and just had to verify my email; that was all. It sucks that Youtube is now cracking down on VPN usage, though :(.
