Kurt gets it right when he said that the strength in his choreography is that he takes risks. That's very true. I don't think he deserves the high component score said he gets just because his skating skills when it comes to Blade on Ice contact or just not as good as others, but I think that's a great way of describing his choreography - he takes a lot of risks and does new/unusual things, and that's what sets him apart as well as his jumps.
 
Not a perfect Ilia, but he did enough, this 4S-3A late pretty much seals it.

That voiceover is still cringe though.
For me, I thought it was fine. But then again, the bar has fallen very low for me. As long as it's not Greta Thunberg or Jack (Titanic) not pspeaking, I can't call stuff cringe no more.
