Let's hope Japan sees it the same way, because I bet their narrative will be Kagiyama beat Malinin, but Sato lost it.
Which is what I mentioned earlier. But apart from the spins, you cant really find a fault in this.... Only if he had the balls to go for a quad flip but I get it.

If Shun was a better spinner, he could take it..As it is, Shun work on your meh spins. But, maybe I'm wrong. That was incredible from my fave.
Shun's spins were some of the poorest in this group though. I hate to say it, because I love this music and program and thought he absolutely did an amazing group. But those spins were pretty weak in comparison to everything else in his program...
Stephane and Shun please help him out here

I do think Shun deserved at least 196, 197 here

Well that was a ride, and now my responsibility free pleasure ends and soon it will be fear and loathing and hyperventilation and heart attacks in Milano Cortina... somebody do me a favor and shoot me, god how am I to survive. See you lovely folks if I'm not granted the favor of being unconscious for 2 weeks...

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Gutted for Shun and the whole Japanese team. They deserved to win.

And I'm not just saying that because I put them top of my predictions. ;)

Oh, no. He's absolutely devastated! Bawling his eyes out.

Oh the poor thing! I hope he knows he did what he needed to do! I think it was the US pairs who exceeded expectations so there’s nothing he could have done about that. Poor thing.

Despite thinking Shun Sato was a bit robbed, to be honest I am glad Malinin isn’t going in the individual competition after his first defeat in years thinking that this costed the team gold medal. Or Amber - for the same reason - after losing it to Gubanova.
That would have been absolutely brutal and I am not even his biggest fan. Overall I think his last two jumping passes rightfully swing it in his favour.
Japan team has been strong and delivered the most beautiful performances so far.
And, like always, 1st and 3rd place are the happiest.
