To me, the skate of the night was Bekker/Hernandez. They really brought out all the elements of the choreography while not neglecting the skating. Z/K also did well. So sad for the Koreans and Germans! I also really enjoyed L/B. The 90s theme runs together, so their skate broke up the monotony for me. Piper--what a catch! Even with the stumble in the twizzles, F/G are close to G/P. Still seems like F/G are primed for bronze. L/L--I think I finally figured out what I do not like so much about their skating. Their holds to me seem simple and open compared to other teams. I directly compared their holds to G/P, and, wow, what a difference in creativity, variety, and quality. Mrazekova/Mrazek--Glad they still made the free, as I think they will be a real crowd pleaser. Interesting to see what a partially non-figure skating audience finds the most impressive. Seems like Lauriault/Le Gac were crowd pleasers! They have moments which are eyecatching and good, even though the music was not!

Well... if that was addressed to me, I have to confess that I do not know anything about such new-fangled technology as VPNs, I do not watch CBC (although, living in Detroit I got really mad when I couldn't get the Canadian station any more which broadcasts all of my favorite British TV shows). I have never heard Carol Lane comment on TV, and, frankly,I am not 100% sure that I know who she is. I have no doubt that she is, as you report, a fine commentator, ibnsightful, fair, perceptive, knowledgable -- it's just that I cannot attest to this one way or another from my own experience.

Ok, I have notheing more to say on that subject.

Tara and Johnny? They're OK. They are not experts on ice dance, but neither am I, so I still learn some things from them. I do wish that people would lighten up a little and would get off their cases, but I guess that's the life of anyone who is somewhat in the public eye. I don't like it, but oh well.
There's a very easy fix: get Mark Hanretty to do the commentary. He's the best :-)

I feel like I've been jinxing whoever I've put in bronze in predictions lately, my apologies to Fear and Gibson 😭

Congratulations to Piper and Paul and to Madison and Evan for winning individual medals. I wish Charlene and Marco could've joined them on the podium, I hope they see how much of an asset they've been since Italy would not have won the Team Event bronze without them.

I've only watched Piper and Paul's dance so far since CBC was quick to put it on Youtube, definitely a 😭 worthy performance.

That's why I put Piper and Paul in 4th in my predictions, so I don't jinx them and make sure they get an Olympic medal (I was hoping for gold :), but extremely happy they got the bronze at least).

Ah yes, when Marco wobbled on his twizzle I was like "Nooooo!"

Then Lilah stepped out of a twizzle and I was "Nooooo!" again but thought at least Marco and Charlene have a chance.

But then Piper and Paul skated and I could only hope for the very best for them! And they did it! Finally an Ice Dance Olympic medal!

But Marco and Charlene have always done Italy proud and I'm so happy they got the Team Medal.

Would love to know Mark's take on the Ice Dance podium. I am just thrilled that Piper and Paul are on the podium. It's interesting that many thought that Chock and Bates' gold was a given. Frankly, I thought both the French and Americans skated very well but neither had that "magical" skate.

I agree and kept saying that C/B's gold was never a given. Nothing ever is in this sport. Honestly, as a former ice dancer, I would have given the gold to G/P out of the three that made podium.

Tatarata! Piper and Paul got a medal, and wasn't Paul emotional after the FD? I started crying too - and in the good way. I've never seen them perform so well before. What an evening. Olivia and Tim with their wonderful programme, the future with Emilea and Vadym, the beautiful and fast Czech siblings (both of the teams), lovely Phebe and James, as well as lovely Sofia and Asaf, nice to watch Marie-Jade and Romaine, Cristina and Anton, Alison and Saulius and many others. I felt sorry for Lilah and Lewis, but the twizzles did go wrong. But the supreme moments were top Dances. I loved both, and they both were well executed. But Laurence and Guillaume were just so good. I was mesmerised. I won't go into all other disputes about this couple, but they definitely had the best Dance today. Sorry Madison and Evan - and I am one of the admirers of 'the skirt', especially now it's red again. The right outcome in my view.

Piper and Paul were magical, costume, music, emotion, everything.

I still like Fear and Gibson's Scottish thing -- you never go wrong with bagpipe music! -- too bad about the mistakes.
Exactly. Too bad about the mistakes from Lilah/Lewis. I would have wished Piper and Paul got 3rd place without those (and the same applies to Charlene and Marco of course) because their FD just was better. Not because someone else made mistakes. Well, their FD was wonderful in itself and nobody is going to remember the mistakes of others.

The corruption and blatant favoritism is too much for me. Deserving teams like the Canadiens get the shaft and so did the Americans.

I'm done. Never watching ice dancing again.
Do you have a reason other than preference to explain why they should have being first? I'm not saying they shouldn't have, I'm just saying so many people judge ice dance based on preference rather than on the criteria, which is what makes it so difficult for me to critique...
