I am truly happy for Mikhail but it is kind o fvunfortunate he is not a well rounded sater and he did it when everyone else messed up. Part of the game but he is not going to be remembered as awesome medallist, or awesome progroa or awesome aristry or aesome tech. He just won because everyoen crashed. A win. The real winner and wih some proper judging really is the Canadian boy who was under 1.5 points from bronze now that is the story.
Mikhail's skating is what it is. Not well,-round is an understatement. He probably has one of the worst programs and worst skating skills in competition. But, looking at the scoring system, he is the rightful winner. I don't see how anyone disputes his win..

I mean, he was one of the most guaranteed golds. He's just been so dominant. But so was Valieva last time.

I'm still so shocked. Very happy for Shaidorov and Kazakhstan. He did a 3A+Eu+4S at the Olympics. The program wasn't the best skating but the athleticism was there (and it wouldn't have felt right for Yuma to win with that skate either). Five quads to win Olympic gold - that's worthy.
He had 5 quads by my count.

Oh my GODD!!!!!

I'm in shock, I can't even. With the buffer he had from the SP and his recurrent overscoring, I really didn't think Illia would actually drop from the podium. But I guess, you live by the jumps, you die by the jumps, and in the end it took 2 falls, 2 pops and a myriad of mistakes for the judges to decide that since all is lost, this was the time to sort of score him normally in PCS.

Misha has gold, Yuma keeps the expected silver in the middle of this chaos, and Shun gets the bronze and can't believe it.

In all, the event was very lackluster with overall poor skates and just a couple of decent performances. Quite disappointing, only partially salvaged by the sheer unexpected suspense and emotional shock and drama of the end results.

OMG. I'm literally in shock. (I haven't posted here in pretty much this whole quad although have been following but you know..) But HOLY f**k. Maybe the US shouldn't have had Ilia skate both the SP and FS in the team but also it was good practice for him to get used to Olympic ice and pressure? But maybe not both of them? (Did they trade individual golds for the team gold - both through politics and pressure?)
This is crazier than Nathan Chen. This is crazier than Kamila Valieva. I just can't. Devastated for him. And devastated for my sweet Jun who should have a medal right now. I can't. I don't even know what to say.
I LITERALLY GASPED IN SPANISH.

So happy for Shun. He went from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. Good for him, for persevering. So proud of them even though they might not have had the performances they wanted, they were the best in the world tonight.
Shun getting a medal and Andrew skating well are the only highlights of this competition for me. Yeah Shun!

I’ve been saying since Nathan Chen I that they (the press) need to quit pre awarding the OGM. It’s too much pressure.
How do they even stop that though. American media and TV always wants the ratings and the drama. Might be more in the athletes choice to start refusing to even talk to the media anymore, especially the States. But not many athletes can even brand themselves as Quad Gods.

I think that no skating competition should ever be held on Friday, the 13th ever again.

What a disastrous free skate for basically everyone but Shaidorov. I'm not disputing the result, but getting in the mid 8s in PCS for that program, which had quads and little else, is a joke.

Really sorry for Ilia and Yuma and Adam. We should've just stopped after the short program. Sigh.

As my sainted mother would say:

Holy Mary, Mother of God, what just happened here?

If anyone had this podium in this order, contact me with stock picks and lottery numbers please.

And I do love happy skaters, and Shun and Misha, god bless, are happy.
