yes. Piper and Paul (and maybe even Chock and Bates) took it year by year after 2022.. and here we are

. I suspect that RR and Deanna and Max could take it year by year.
A lot of teams aim for the Olympics for sure and plan for a cycle... but some do not.
Look there was a very good team in Canada Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch. After 2014, they split. The reason was that Kirsten was aiming not only for 2018 but also for 2022. Dylan was not willing to go till 2022. We got Lubov and Dylan which were spectacular but her jumps were weak and they never ranked high enough... and while Kirsten and Michael were good, they were never as good as what we used to call MTM.... (with Michael, they were MTM2.0)
So Olympic cycles are a documented thing

. Lia and Trennt for instance will have to talk about it. She's only 22 or 23 I think and he is close to 30. Ellie and Danny will obviously have to talk things through as well.
The thing is that going one season at a time is tough for the one who is younger and wants to keep going for longer because if their partner retires midway a quad cycle, then they are stuck with nothing left. Switching partners is MUCH more logical at the beginning of the quad.
I know... nobody wants to hear this but people will retire and new teams will be made. Minerva is a great example of that.
