I'm sure I read somewhere that Aleksandra Golovkina-Dolinske had switched/was going to switch from skating for Lithuania to skating for Britain - here's her profile: https://isu-skating.com/figure-skating/skaters/aleksandra-dolinske/Is there anyone we can steal from another country when Kristen retires? It's looking a bit bleak for a few years.
I was joking, but I know she has been in Dundee for ages.I'm sure I read somewhere that Aleksandra Golovkina-Dolinske had switched/was going to switch from skating for Lithuania to skating for Britain - here's her profile: https://isu-skating.com/figure-skating/skaters/aleksandra-dolinske/
I am hoping that things might click into place for Emma Lyons. She has a lot of potential, but is very inconsistent. We know that Simon Briggs can do well with late bloomers - just look at where Natasha Mckay/Johnson got to.Is there anyone we can steal from another country when Kristen retires? Arina Vorobeva will actually be senior eligible next year, though probably better off staying in juniors a bit longer - she seems to have had a tough season with injuries but I think she has plenty of potential. Crossing my fingers for her that she can have better luck next season so she has a chance to keep improving.I was joking, but I know she has been in Dundee for ages.
I don't really follow juniors, except the absolute stars, but I can see our junior national champ, Alice Smith, is very young, so if Nina retires as well as Kristen, we really do have a gap for a while, unless there's someone I don't know about.
We're British. We have no great expectations, but we've normally been able to field competitors at Euros, and often at Worlds. It'll feel weird not to have a women's representative to root for to make the free!
Fortunately, most of my joy as a spectator is not tied to national interest, but I do like British skaters to be involved, and was pleased we managed to qualify a team to the Olympics.
Last I knew, Alice was training in Romford with John Wicker. Seems like she must have moved. Her ISU bio now has her training in St Petersburg. She is quite young for that sort of move away from friends and family.Despite her fall in Junior Worlds today, without which she'd have made the free, I thought Alice looked good for her age, obviously a lot to work on, but she has time. Not being in the loop, I didn't expect to see the Selevkos' coach with her.
Bit of a rough skate for Davison and Borisov, after doing well to make it through to the free, but they handled it really well. He's built like a tank!
Russia or Florida?Last I knew, Alice was training in Romford with John Wicker. Seems like she must have moved. Her ISU bio now has her training in St Petersburg. She is quite young for that sort of move away from friends and family.
Russia or Florida?
But, I'm a bit confused because the last I heard, Kononova was based in Tallinn. And had been for donkey's years.

What a pity - my favourite current pairs team!Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby have split.Luke is retiring. It is a split I had feared...
What a pity - my favourite current pairs team!
They've been absolutely brilliant and have done such a lot for British Pairs Skating.
Best wishes to Luke for the next chapter.
I hope Ana decides to continue competing and finds a good partner - she's an amazing skater.
That's a shame, they were lovely. The British senior team is really thinned out by losing them and Kristen. Tricky to find a partner an an elite level.
