I think Khodykina/Butenko would have competed in the junior category if they could but Butenko is too old for it (since the maximum junior age in Russia is lower than in international competitions right now).

Thank you! Sort of a related question: In the junior pairs event, were there any teams that wouldn't yet be age eligible for international juniors right now? I don't believe this is the case, but girls like Taisia Guseva look so young that I wanted to check.

Previously, in pair skating, it was not allowed to move up to juniors earlier than internationally. Singles could do that if they were on the novice national team. But now I've checked it, and apparently they've allowed pairs/dancers to do it since this season. So Guseva wouldn't be junior-eligible this season internationally. The rest are junior-eligible internationally.

Great dance podium, especially M/U, but so many good dances right down to last place, loved Kuzmina, Kolomenskaya, Rybakova, Zhdanova... all cool with interesting positions and music.

I agree about a weird vibe with M/G. It's too bad B/K couldn't skate clean but they held it together after the mistake on the quad, and for them that's an accomplishment.
