What were your biggest disappointments this season ?

For me, there were a lot :
1- Amber Glenn, who was unable to win a medal at the Olympic Games and World Championships
2- Ilia Malinin, who did not win gold at the Olympic Games
3- Chaeyeon Kim, who did not qualify for the Olympic Games
4- Adeliia Petrosian, who failed to land either the triple axel or the quad toe at the Olympic Games
5- Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson who lost the bronze medal for the illegal element at the 2026 Worlds championships
6- Josefin Taljegård, who failed to qualify for the Olympic Games
7- Madeline Schizas, who did not qualify for the long program at the Olympic Games
8- Loena Hendrickx, who was unable to finish her season at the World Championships
9 - Rinka Watanabe, who was not selected for either the Olympic Games or the World Championships despite two extraordinary performances at the Japanese national championships.
10- Maxime Deschamps and Deanna Stellato-Dudek, who had difficulties in their Olympic journey

I agree with @el henry, although for me the biggest disappointment the reason why he didn't make it: a bad FS at US Nationals which made it impossible to see him at the OG. And then he declined World's as well. So sad.

Another disppointmen was Deanna getting injured quite close to the OG. She (and Max) made it there, but their performances weren't what they would have expected.

-Deanna and Max's struggles in what should have been their year
- Junhwan Cha
- Fabbri-Ayer, Hensen-Lickers and Gauthier-Thieren splits
- Half success/failure comebacks from great skaters of the past or " what the Olympics can incite someone to do in its worst version"
-Maddie not making the LP at the Olympics... and further troubles.
-Junior single skaters from Canada not being able to compete at worlds and being subbed. :(.
-Tech panels giving base level and level 1 to elite athletes just because they can
- Judges giving PCS like candy just because they can
-ISU awards : they need to stop :)
-90% of the 90s rhythm dances
-Kaori not winning the Olympics

Men's category in general.

Rhythm Dance in general.

Warhorse music surge in general (all categories).

Same-samey program planning in general (all categories).

Maddie & Evan not winning gold @ the Olympics
Ilia not winning gold @ the Olympics
Maddie Schizas not qualifying for the Olympic free skate, and not having 2 error free programs @ Worlds
Vladimir L. not qualifying for the free skate @ the Olympics, Worlds (his "Joker" program is weird, but I really wanted to see it again!)
Lopareva & Brissaud no longer considered the top French dance team, Demougoet & LeMercier not given the chance to compete @ the Olympics & Worlds (assuming that France had only 2 spots for both competitions)
Lilah & Lewis' not medaling @ Worlds due to the illegal lift decision
Deanna & Maxime's continuing struggles @ the Olympics
Loena Hendrickx not being able to finish her season

10 points seems like a good number to have.

  1. Stefania Yakovleva's nightmare SP putting her last at Senior Worlds after being super impressive all season.
  2. Vasilisa Bogomolova getting injured after her first Junior GP and missing nearly all of the season, and the knock-on effect it will have on Cyprus' Junior GP slots next season when they really need as many slots as possible due to Oliviia Bazlova becoming age eligible.
  3. Adeliia Petrosian not winning the Olympic Ladies title.
  4. Injured Sui / Han being sent to the Olympics instead of the in-form Zhang / Huang, who actually won the Olympic Qualifying Event.
  5. Chinese skaters getting held up at the Olympic Qualifying Event, even though they would probably have made it through without any extra help.
  6. The scoring of Piper & Paul pretty much all season, particularly by a certain British judge. (I always want them to win everything they enter!)
  7. Emilea & Vadym's SD music. (I love them, but I hated that music with a passion!)
  8. The lack of variety in 90's music in Ice Dance.
  9. The number of awful re-mixes being used rather than the original recordings. 🙉
  10. Finding out what the Shibutani family is really like.

In random order:

Deniss Vasiljevs having a rough season with plenty of on- and off- ice problems;

Gabriella Papadakis getting fired from her commentating gig. I'm sure she could have managed to behave professionally;

Sørensen attending every competition (even if his partner and friends stand by him, keeping a lower profile would be better);

Funding issues for German skating;

Adam Siao Him Fa bombing at least one segment at every competition;

Kevin Aymoz aymozing the Euros SP;

Both Selevkos cactusing Euros medal away;

That darn Flip for Kaori Sakamoto;

Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps having a rough season with a serious injury right before the Olympics.

Other things, such as pops/falls/low PCS are more standard figure skating heartbreak, with the exception of the PCS given to Korean skaters at the Olympics (Cha especially): those were criminally low.

Japan not winning team gold, which they should have IMO.

Kaori not having an Olympic gold.

Russians being allowed to compete at the Olympics.

Jun not getting an Olympic medal.

The egregious over scoring of C/Bs, Piper and Paul deserve so much better.

SD/D having health challenges and barely making the games.

1. The behavior, claims, and conspiracy theories of fans.
2. The behavior of a male U.S. skater in the Olympic K&C.
3. The behavior and claims of a retired skater.
4. The behavior of a journalist harassing skaters.

I would like to start with that I´m not sure I like the word disappointing - I would like to say that i´m proud of athletes that work so hard no matter what, and the disappointments about performances isn´t because they didn´t do their best, but because I hoped they would have skated to their potential.

From the top of my mind:

- I´m disappointed (but not surprised) by the insanely GOE on every elements of a certain team the minute they stepped on the ice, all though it was not always deserved. And winning the OG.
- By the scandalous ice dance judging at Skate to Milano, which almost made the Swedes miss the Olympics, robbed them IMO of a bronze medal and cost another team a Olympic spot.
- Ava Ziegler and Lindsay Thorngren retiring way too early :(
- G/F scores dropping like a ball
- Allowing the neutral athletes in Olympics, nobody seemed happy with the experience really and the scores, instead the spots could have been given to athletes who would have enjoyed every minute.
- Jason not making Olympics
- T/V almost not being able to compete because of Matthias bad luck of injuries :(
- Ice Dance still only have 20 teams making the free at Championships/Olympics
- Nobody skating to Barbie Girl in the RD 90s theme, it´s actually a scandal

Rd lack of whatsoever creativity (and my expectations were already low)
skaters sober costume choices (guys, my award can't run itself :ROFLMAO:)
pr stunts before and after (especially after) Olympics
skaters considered medal material 'till last season suddenly dropping as if they had lost of their skills over summer
creative judging
double standards regarding world politics issues (not a real disappointment honestly, i know how the world works)

Most RDs.
Glenn landing beautiful 3As and still not getting a solo medal.
Judges throwing perfect marks at Cizeron for everything he does as soon as he enters the ice (he deserved Euros and Worlds, but not OGM).
Some judges still getting away with outrageous aberrations.
Men's skating (especially Free skating) at Olys. 1992 vibes. Malinin 8ths ... well, that was surreal - had I been busy that evening and only looked at the result later, I would have believed there was a serious error on the website. Still wonder what was going on on that ice (it is used for short track as well, isn't it?) ... Olympic pressure and nerves are one thing, but SO many horrible performances with different techniques - that was really odd. :bed:
