2025-26 U.S. Pairs Figure Skating

I wish someone of a methodical mind would produce a chart of a sort:
Pairs definitely split
Believed to be split
This list is pure speculation on my part based on last season's results...

Both Sonia BARAM and Luke WANG rep Los Angeles FSC - maybe they need to meet?

Thanks @labgoat, but that list is not up-to-date. Megan Wessenberg long since split with Blake Eisenach. She partnered with Eduardo Caputo (from Italy), then they split before they could ever compete at U.S. Nationals, after having to WD in 2024 due to Caputo sustaining injury or illness. Of course, Megan moved to France last year and partnered with Denys Strekalin.

In addition, that chart does not reflect the recent splits of Flores/Wang and of Shin/Nagy.

The list is only pairs listed as split - not of new partnerships.
It just shows who their recent partnerships were.

Neither is crossed out because they do not have new partners yet. When one of them gets a new partner - their name will be crossed through.

I am a bit confused here.
Olivia Flores/ Luke Wang confirmed split

That is why they are on the list. Neither is crossed out because they do not have new partners yet. When one of them gets a new partner - their name will be crossed through.

Well, as I said, Wessenberg & Eisenach are not a recent partnership, nor a recent split. Eduardo Caputo partnered with Wessenberg very briefly after Eisenach. Currently, Wessenberg is paired with Denys Strekalin.

I now get that you are saying the entire list reflects 'splits', but the header also
states '/ retirements'. It's not a chart that's clear or easy to understand.

Umm, okay. Still not easy to figure that out by just looking at the chart. The Wessenberg entry should list Caputo, not Eisenach.

Wessenberg is not the one seeking a partner. Last I saw was that Blake was the one without a partner. His last partner was Megan. No need to list Megan as she already has a partner. Her name is listed only as the last former partner of Blake. That is why Megan's name is crossed out.

I just removed the word retirement - if this not not clear enough, then I will remove the whole chart.

Uh, once again, okie dokie. 🤔😉

The thing about Blake is that he retired to do shows when he split with Megan Wessenberg 'eons' ago. It took Megan a very long time before she found a partner in Caputo. Blake, therefore has not even been part of the competitive pairs scene for a while. Albeit he has many competitor friends and he stays in contact, plus he's been busy doing shows. I had recently heard that Blake had voiced a desire to come back to compete again. I didn't take huge notice of it, though, as he seems to go back-and-forth a lot with trying to find a new partner, training a bit, and then it falls through before it can get off the ground.

Years ago, Blake had some success and some bad luck in junior pairs. He actually looked quite good with Megan when they partnered and briefly competed in seniors. But, seemingly, his interest in competing waned, and he began pursuing a fun show career. That's what I mean about him flittering back-and-forth. Is he seriously now looking for a partner again? And that's why he's on this list? IMO, his name shouldn't appear with Wessenberg as their former partnership is NOT recent.

I get that you pulled this together quick and dirty from available info. But, how it's put together is not clear. Thanks anyway.

No, please don’t! Your efforts are very much appreciated. I think we are all in the state of confusion and craving for clarity.
Yep. I totally appreciate your efforts @labgoat. I get that there really isn't an easy way to do it. You always go out of your way to be of service, and your work is appreciated. Once you explained the thought process behind the chart, it makes sense. But, for me, the Blake and Megan listing is not current and doesn't make sense without an explanation. Is Blake actively and seriously trying to come back again? 🤔
