The 2026 World bronze medalists discuss artistry, consistency, and what's next!

🎭 Developing as artists
🏆 Defining success beyond medals
💪 Longevity, recovery, and staying healthy

What are your expectations for Pereira and Michaud this season? Can they build on last year's World bronze and contend for another medal? What would you like to see from them this upcoming season?

I've been a fan of Lia and Trennt ever since they started as a pair (which isn't that long ago, they just look so established already). I can still recall a picture of them with Maddy Schizas where they had quite a success at a Challenger (Golden Spin) in the beginning of their partnership - I think they got a bronze medal there - and me thinking "now that's an interesting couple to follow" and I was proven right. Not all roses, but thorns too. But that's okay.

I like it that they are getting input from Ice Dancers (that makes the pairs discipline more interesting in any case). I like their mindset as well. As long as you're pleased and satisfied with your skating, enjoy performing too, and you feel you're still growing and learning. All the best this season!

I am so glad to read that they work with many coaches now. I think they needed it and of course, it's easy for me to say at this point, but it may be why they are being more consistent and improving steadily. Purkiss and Lemaire for stability and all the others as consulting is a great team in my humble opinion.

I, also, have been cheering for them as soon as they were announced as a team. I thought that Trennt needed a partner with a bit more sparkle than Evelyn and Lia provides that. I am very happy for them that they are continuing next year : winning a medal is fabulous but skating with confidence and joy is priceless and I wish this for every athlete.

I am looking forward to seeing their new programs : I felt that the last couple of years, they brought us real programs unlike many teams in the top 12. So, I like their care about bringing a story to the ice.

My expectation for Lia and Trennt and the coming season is that they're going to be in the mix in any competition they are in. I think this past year was a banner year for them as a pair. They looked like they'd been skating together for years. Trennt is a beast out there - very strong and effortless when he lifts Lia. The fact they're working with ice dancers is a positive concept in my opinion. It can only add to their artistry.

I really like Lia and Trennt as a pair. I expect them to continue to make progress with their skating and programmes. They should hopefully be able to pick up medals in their GP events. However, I think they might struggle to get onto the Worlds podium again with the Russian pairs back as AINs. Whichever AIN pair goes to Worlds, the Georgians and Hase/Volodin are likely to be ahead of them there.

that's a given for the entire world of figure skating, even men.

However, let's not forget that there have been years, even olympic years without Russians on the podium in pairs. So who knows :) It all depends on who is vetted as neutral too.
