Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

I ate up most of my web data on holiday rewatching the nice R+J performance.

1000% worth it.

So stoked that he performed it again for the EX!

The kid has never let me down, I love his answer to the EX question! IMO, he's right that such an impressive, or even legendary, program cannot be repeated. He can perform it again but the feeling will not be the same. The best way to appreciate R&J-1 is to watch the Nice 2012 for 10000000000 times:biggrin:. Let's just keep it in everyone's memory, that's what we call a classic piece of art, isn't it?

I find the judges were indeed strict to Hanyu this time. It's still acceptable and I can't say the judges were wrong but Yuzu's GOE and PCS in FS were both a bit tight. Probably the judges wanted to recover from the Olympics scandal? They really gave a test to the reigning Olympics champion.

I watched the Gala online... it was fantastic!!
The R&J n1 was simply superb!!! I'm really thankful to him, that was the perfect choice.
On the other hand, I always tried to understand different positions but I can't understand those fans who are saying that they should not have watched Yuzu's R&J n1, that it wasn't the same as Nice 2012, etc etc.
Hey! Come on! The performance was majestic and the perfect close, lots of his fans were wishing that he would do it. It is more than obvious that the feeling of Nice 2012 was unique due to the special circumstances he went through back then. That season he was not fighting for himself only but for his people as well. He gave his life in that LP. R&J n1 at WC2012 was a unique performance, unbeatable, we cannot ask for a repetition of that.
Moreover, he is now absolutely tired and seemingly injured. And more, it was an EX, not a competition!
What we saw hours ago was very special and magical.
Arigatou gozaimasu Yuzu!!! Now I hope you rest as you deserve ;)

His exhibition R&J no.1 showcases the development he's had since 2012. His movements seem smoother and more refined than 2 years ago. Beautiful performance!

Ugh, he could totally be my Romeo.

So Yuzuru will do Stars on Ice next month and next in at least one month resting, isn´t he?

And does anyone knows if he was going to stay in Japan after worlds, or is he going back to Canada?

Sendai is doing a parade for him on April, 24th I think.

Does Yuzu have any social network account?
He hasn't had one so far. But since he now owns a cellphone for himself, there is a slim chance that we can see him join twitter or insta in the future. Everytime Misha Ge, Javier and Nam Nguyen post a photo with Yuzu, many fans ask them to suggest Yuzu join social network

I can't help but think that with the current hype, if the kid now gets a twitter account..... the internet might just very well explode  just saying

:slink: he should't have own... there would be a chance he would see what the fan girls have created on the internet. :disapp: Not a good idea.

^I think Brian Orser has cautioned his skaters from reading stuff about them in the internet.

In any case, Yuzuru seems to enjoy being before a camera with his friends so for sure even without social accounts, his fans will get to see photos of him. Right now though as the skating season's over these may not be as frequently updated as before.

There's so many dimensions when it comes to training high-level athletes, especially now with social media being thrown into the mix. I for one, would not want Yuzu to get a social media account. Not only because of the things that fan girls tend to leave on other figure skaters/athletes in general accounts (which range from a little weird to down right gross), but he said he wanted to focus on his skating and that there's no time for it.

Haha I wish I had his mentality and focused on school and work a little bit more.

My thoughts exactly:agree:
Also, we (fans, in general) put enough pressure on the kid this season, just imagine how would be to see what's on the internet about him. At least before important competitions he shouldn't use it.;)

Someone has already upload the clip of his gala, so fast: http://youtu.be/b7RISCuV2ro

Magical. I absolutely LOVE, love, love that straightline footwork.

I'm a bit sad this season is over but looking forward to seeing his new programs in the fall. He went to Canada to train and win the OGM and that's exactly what he did. Amazing. Brian Orser has got to be acknowledged as well for doing an incredible job with Yuzu. I'm sure they're both exhausted. Rest well dear Yuzuru.

^Oh I see, thanks! :) Seems then that Nam has a lot of catching up to do with Yuzuru in more ways than one: Nam has openly declared, like Yuzuru, that he is aiming for that gold medal in 2018. With Javier also being there in the mix, Brian Orser and Tracy Wilson should be very, very busy in this quad.

Who said that?? Before the show, I thought he would do something else but it really amazed me with the new R&J-1. I think his EX R&J-1 performance was fantastic, most of the fans must enjoy a lot! It's simply some special tribute to himself and the fans which is really a sincere and sweet idea.
