Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

just for the record: there are actually still people who are not aware of this kind of thing ;) me and some friends once attended a lecture about pop culture and fandoms - and I pretty much had to translate for them. the professor kept talking about different aspects of fan fiction culture and just assumed that everybody was familiar with it... well, they weren't, but they were pretty shocked when I tried to explain things in a short and direct manner (it was pretty funny, actually)... and my friends don't exactly live in a convent either.
(note: I'm not saying that Yuzuru is like this. I'm just making a point.)

Yep there are many many many people out there who are not aware of this, especially those who are unfamiliar with pop cultures and fandoms. I think Yuzu surely knows about yaoi and doujinshi :biggrin: however, I glad he doesn't have any social network account. I saw many fangirls sent yaoi-related stuffs to artists (and their friends) Twitter acc :eek:. It'd better if they keep it within the fandom imo.

Here is a picture of Yuzuru at the Emperor's Garden Party today.

Thanks mikaboo! Yuzuru looking quite dapper. And unlike some instances where his suit looks a trifle too big for his slender frame, this one is just about right. :)

In the background, I see some of the other male guests in long suits and imagining how Yuzuru would look like in one.

many thanks for the video!

is there anybody who can translate what they say? they talk so much!:)

Thanks in advance!

Is that Noriaki Kasai beside him? That guy surely knows the secret of having a loooooooong and successful career in his sport!

Yes, it is. If I remember correctly, he said he's been doing his stuff for 33 years!

@mikaboo re: Kasai
...and he first medalled at Worlds and Olympics before Yuzuru was even born! And now he medalled at Sochi again! Incredible!

No, he mentioned the 4Lutz.

I rewatched it and Yuzuru was talking about 4Lo, 4S and 4T. He was saying that all three jumps have things in common, and he is able to focus on them which now leads to the higher success rate of 4S and 4Lo. (hope my translation makes sense!)

Yuzuru interview:

Thanks for the translation celestecruz. It seems that in his conversation with his royal hosts, Yuzuru still managed to to bring to fore his advocacy of drawing attention to his earthquake-stricken hometown of Sendai. And rightly so as he could not have had a more exalted " audience."

There has been criticism about Yuzuru's posture both on and off the ice (including from myself), but in this royal encounter, I thought Yuzuru looked and carried himself like a prince. His parents must be so proud of him!

You are welcome, you can follow @hanyuyuzurufeed on twitter and tumblr, she is gread posting news, articles, videos and photos of Yuzuru.

Any news on how the show in Nagoya went? Did he make it?

True! Sendai is probably a large part of why he seems so grounded and level-headed. Having that frame of reference definitely puts things in perspective.

@cruzceleste re: Kasai
My thoughts exactly! :laugh:
I remember reading an interview with Kasai's coach (who is Finnish like me) who says that Kasai is not only incredibly disciplined and determined but also very realistic about how much can his knees and back take, so he really listens to his body and adjusts his training accordingly; and it is his smart approach to training that has allowed him to stay in the game and peak at important competitions. I hope Yuzu had a good chat with him! ;)

Today's show: hana ni nara. 4T, 3A, 3T. No miss.
Well, I bet two days' rest is enough for him.........But still, he's a crazy boy.:bow:
