Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

By the way, it's written that people with Yuzu's blood type sometimes become victims of discrimination because they don't count as good workers :disapp: Yuzu can break Japanese stereotypes and help B-blood type people!

I'm surprised at how serious Japanese people take into this blood type 'theory'... :slink:

Finally, I found a link that can explain about what S-M types mean in Japan :agree:

http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+70244

thanks:)

i find it amusing that one of the answers said..

Synonyms are "sou-shoku-kei" (vege-eater) for M, and "niku-shoku-kei" (meat-eater) for S which has little to do with what you really eat.

so what oda said actually coincides with what dai said about yuzu on a recent interview

so tj actually sees yuzu as the S type/carnivorous/"meat eater" guy

Thank you Winterbell and Suzy Q for all the explaining the S and M terminology, as always the Yuzuru thread is educative...

Alexsaytor... I don´t know if I am Reading wrong the link you posted but B type are "doers" I will read that as a person that finish projects.

I was just curious and searched for B type .... oh well ...

http://www.issendai.com/rpgs/takemywings/bloodtypes.htm

Type B
People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.

People with blood type B are often considered more relaxed, freewheeling, and unconventional than other types, although not necessarily to an unacceptable degree. In anime, the genki, off-the-wall types are type B, along with any kind of well-intended character who's ruled by their impulses.

Well if that doesn´t describe Yuzuru, I don´t know what does...

Edit

Looks like Pooh has got some competition http://waseda-sports.jp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/h4.jpg wonder if Waseda bear come in tissue box suits...

Oh that Waseda bear mascot is one of the saddest things I have ever seen! I don't know if Yuzuru will get that "calm and peaceful feeling" looking at it which he does with Pooh, so I guess Pooh is safe for now. I actually think Pooh's "real competition" will come when Yuzuru falls in love.

Thank you to those who posted explanations and links regarding the S and M thing. Very enlightening. :)

Someday someone really needs to explain to me why they would make their mascot look like that... is that supposed to depict seriousness or something? Because I don't think it does, it really does look just super sad (Winnie's donkey friend is a ray of sunshine compared to this poor bear, who is clearly in need of some anti-depressants)

I like it :slink:

I just noticed something when comparing Olympics to Worlds (and other skates)
For all programs except for Olympics FS, he does the usual crouch, slap boards, and push back while still down.

Olympics FS, after Orser says "one section at a time", Yuzu just ambles off to center rink. Hmm.

Just impressive work Channah ! Thanks ! It is so touching to see his admiration for Akikawa...

I'm just watching a video where there is a mix of different scene about Yuzuru before, during and after winning the gold medal at Olympics. It also shows backstage and at the end a friendly hug between Ten en Yuzu ! So adorable : http://telly.com/1HTK7N3
What words Yuzu said during his different interview ? All sequences of the video are vibrant. The quality is good.

Hanyu shared his view on this matter, "Skating varies with each person. Patrick's skating requires a great amount of power. Takahiko Kozuka genuinely rides his edges, he has a light and agile quality to his skating. Takahashi's is extremely slick. Of course it's unthinkable to try to be any of those skaters, but if I'm pressed to choose, I'd like to aim for Takahashi's skating style, who's capable of abandoning himself to the flow [of the program] without exerting any effort."

browsing the yuzu thread again and came across this interview. :)

i find yuzu very observant and as far as i have seen, his description on how the three men skates were actually on point. i still think kozuka's ss is the best of the three but i liked it that when he was pressed to choose, he picked dai's style :)

But I'm sure a lot of skaters would like to aim Yuzu's style on their skating ;) He becomes himself a model. By dint of always watching Hanyu's performances, I have so assimilated his style in my mind that each time I watch an other skater, I think it misses something. Before knowing Hanyu, I had not this feeling but now it is different ^^

Yuzu and Kanako should never do that to a non-M type senior person, e.g., Daisuke. They never did that.

I guess Daisuke is less M-type than Oda, but he doesn't consider himself S-type either since after all he describes himself as a "vegetable-eater". I remember he once made fun of Kanako’s preparation routine before competition, and Kanako just burst out something like "oh come on, I got it! (stop saying that)". I was amazed by how easy-going and gentle Daisuke is towards his Kohai.

Yes, from what I have seen Daisuke has been gracious to the younger Japanese skaters, doesn't come on hot and heavy and intimidating or pull rank with them. There was an interview with him and Yuzuru I think in the 2010 NHK and he said complimentary things about Yuzuru, such as how more poised Yuzuru was than him when he was Yuzuru's age at that time.

Thank you, Hanmgse, for the touching video.

10:22 part where Yuzu said ''I will be close to 20 then (2014 Olympics)", his usage of words (or suffix ? I don't know how to call it) is so cute!!!

ps. Usually, from what I have heard in Japanese, this kind of usage is much more commonly seen in girls, instead of boys...

well. what Kanako did , was to accept the joke from Seibai Daisuke. That is definitely different with she saying some rude words to Senbai and Senbai enjoy it happily. Daisuke won't enjoy such jokes although he won't easily get angry with them either, I think. His personal image is gentle and easy-going, but I don't think that includes being funny as a comedian, while Oda does. Daisuke might be a grass-eater, but he definitely is not a M-type (i.e., enjoy being bullied). There is a very subtle while also a very large difference there.
