papa -- Too bad you're not her papa.

I disagree to some point.I have never watched Shindlers List, too. I have known the music for a long time before that but never have enough patience to watch the movie.
Other skaters have also overused this piece for a while. I have watched Joshua's version of Shindlers List and I have to say it's too cheesy to my taste (sorry Joshua's fans). So yeah, the point is not the content of that movie, the point is the program suits her so well, and we don't need any background about the movie or history to acknowglege that she is very talented and she made the program shine.
She will do whatever she wants and I still will be amazed and awestruck - hey, maybe I underestimate her and she will create another masterpiece? It's not like I wanted to discourage her, just expressed my doubts and worries, always wishing best of luck to our "umnichka".papa -- Too bad you're not her papa.

One of the Mods from her fan page, who is in contact with Yulia, posted that she has chosen her music. She would not divulge her selection though but it seems she is happy and committed. Here we go. Next stop...cup of Japan.

The thing is I haven't seen the movie and I don't have to. Yet I feel the program very much. It's like absolute music and program music. Wih absolute music you don't have to know anything about the background of the composition, you simply like it because you find it beautiful. With program music you force yourself to apply into the background story of the composition.I disagree to some point.
Yulia has said many times in interviews she loved the movie, watched it many times and always wanted to be the girl in red. In the documentary about her, she says she liked the story, Averbuch and Eteri roughly describe the work, storyline and even meanings behind several elements.
In my opinion Yulia and her team wanted to portrait the film character and (largely imaginary) story behind her and by neglecting it, you're depriving yourself of experiencing the whole Yulia's mastery in her Schindler's List program.
- Much easier. Julia has matured, the music has deeper and thinner feel. She is in great shape, well rested, she was given a large enough vacation and a half months to recover and recover from such a heavy, exciting Olympic season. While on holiday her mood is very watched, it did not quite an ounce. So working with her a pleasure.

I went through the page of suggestions on there. Most were bad. People flooding the page with songs that are in no way useable for a figure skating routine.
Main one that intrigued me is this Star Wars song. Would be another John Williams song and recognizable http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFcuT4Nbcb8

Oh, I misunderstood you, thank you so much for warm words. And Good Lord, who wouldn't want to have such daughter?!papa, sorry if there is a suggestion of sarcasm in my comment. I meant to express that the gentleness, sympathy, and respect so evident in your statement are the qualities that one would hope for in ones father. That same affectionate feeling sets this thread apart from any I know.
