Jason Brown

Here are the scores per Sylvia's tweet:

Sylvia ‏@SylviaUnseen

Glacier Falls Sr Men SP 1-7: J Brown 83.04, B Kerry AUS 72.19, Hochstein 69.19, Rabbitt 64.47, Warren 61.48, Moeller 59.29, Omori 58.53

:points:

Now we just need video (w/costume, preferably)

Boy talk about landslide! That's also better than the score he got last year. I'm hoping it's cause he got better TES. :)

Karne will be thrilled to see her countryman in second. :D

Sylvia has published TES/PCS breakdown = 43.59 TES/39.45 PCS

Last year he got 45.57 TES/37.20 PCS (82.87).

So nearly two points worse on TES more than two points better on PCS.

However it is a big improvement from either of his SP scores from Broadmoor in June (39.90/38.00) and pretty close to what he got at Nebelhorn Trophy last year (43.38). So likely he skated a clean program with maybe a few points lost on +GOE. Hopefully we'll get more reports.

His PB in TES for the SP is 45.98 from last year's Trophee Eric Bompard. So if he's doing a no-quad SP, there is still room for improvement.

Also, again from Sylvia: "Aug. 1 update: I’ve been informed by a GF club official that Senior Ladies’ and Men’s SP & FS videos are supposed to be available to current Icenetwork season pass subscribers for on demand viewing sometime next week."

Woot.

Yay! Wait, when does the 2013-2014 season end according to icenetwork? Will it be geoblocked, I wonder?

They haven't promoted 2014-2015 subscription yet, so I assume our current subs is still good. I don't think it will be geoblocked. The main reason they do that is due to ISU broadcasting rights policies.

Excellent! It'll be a double-whammy - not only will I (hopefully) get to see Jason's new costume, I get to find out what Brendan is skating to this season! :)

EDIT: Brendan's score breakdown was 40.87/31.32.

A fan uploaded his SP (no costume hint):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTsVfUxpxsg

The biggest change I noticed is that the combo jumps and the triple axel (which looked clean and beautiful to me) are switched around. The music style isn't my favorite but Jason does a good job of selling it and the audience seems to enjoy his performance. I love the music for his FS and I'm looking forward to today's updates.

Thanks so much, katmari, for posting this. It already has 200+ views!! I can't wait to see the costume for this number.

Oh, thankyou thankyou thankyou!

I love it! He's really looking great. And I notice they've changed the ending, I like this one better but he nearly missed the ending of the music.

Again, many thanks Katamari. They have changed the ending; I actually liked the kneeling position of the previous ending better, but perhaps Jason's team also felt it looked like he was falling out of his final spin, as I have seen posted online?? Now it is symmetrical with the beginning, which may garner more artistic points.

Hopefully they are re-thinking suspenders as well....

I just re-visited the video and the number of hits has gone from 300 this morning to nearly 1800!!
Word certainly gets around!!

Yay

Sylvia has posted the TES/PCS breakdown: 67.22 TES/79.02 PCS

The jump layout was:
3A (two-footed? < at least, if not <<)
2S (placeholder)
3Z-2T
--
3Lo
2A-1L-3S
3F-2T (should be 3F-3T, I think).
3Z
2A

This was his layout from last year:
2A
3A-3T
3A
--
3Z-1L-3S
3F-2T
2A
3Z
3Lo

I'm still wondering if the 2A-1L-3S will eventually become a 3A. Because otherwise the layout is quite watered down from what he has last year. Last year he had six triples (3Z (2), 3F, 3Lo, 3S) in the second half and this year under how he is skating it he has five (3Z, 3F, 3Lo, 3S, 3T).

Or the other scenario is that he's close on the quad and his team wants to put focus on the mastering the top half layout (3A, 4T, 3Z-2T). Or maybe he's going to do a 4S instead (judging from the 2S placeholder)?

In any case his FS is still clearly watered down for whatever reason. It's only August and his first GP is more than two months away, so he still has time to work on it.

Or those 300 people went back and watched it another 5 times each ;)

Thanks for breaking this down Mrs. P. I thought his jump layout seemed "watered down" as you put it, but I'm still not great at picking out individual elements so wasn't sure. I love this program and think it has a ton of potential so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Mrs. P, is this to be expected? Is his program trial-and-error and in a state of flux between now and the larger competitions?

I watched it at least three times.

The greatest indicator of the waterdown program is the 67+ TES he got. His PB TES in the free skate is 81.05, so there's a TON of points left off the table.

Definitely is not unusual to watered down programs during the summer comps. I too think it was still a great skate event without all the HARD elements and perhaps the focus for this competition was to focus on getting the choreography down. It did seem that there was a lot more transitions and details we didn't see when he debuted this program at Broadmoor.
