Yulia Lipnitskaya

And I'm like "Shut up! Of course you know how :bang: " The viewers seem to love it though and genuinely believe in it. But I think too much subjective commentary can create uncomfortable situations and favor some people too much

I like British & Italy Eurosport.

I like British & Italy Eurosport.

I really like British Eurosport too, even if sometimes they are kind of repetitive ( He/She went motoring into that! , Sensational!! FOOT-PERFECT!!!!!) but out of the rest I think they are the best, they give some insight. Sometimes you can see when they are fans of some particular skater too, and they love Yulia, especially Simon I think. I also really like that one channel in Spanish, I can understand most of what they say and they are great.
About the Italian Eurosport all I can say is: MAMMMMAA MIAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmm... i may need to learn spanish and italian. but i love the british eurosport analysts. they don't talk too much and seem to be very knowledgeable about the sport and always very responsive to a performance or an entire competition. sometimes they fudge a name or reiterate some gossip though, such as saying yulia got a part in a spielberg movie. on the other hand, american analysts seem to babble ceaselessly even if it means speaking pointless gibberish. the below clip demonstrates this well. one of them even calls her "yulia lipitsky"...

I haven't watched Mulan and not going to  but I like that new SP music: Russian, piano, lively and kinda touching. It's faster than SL though. Will Yulia manage to mantain elegance and artistry level?

wow, started 100th page of out fav thread! let's keep it rollin' guys!:party2:

The Mulan Suite has the melody of the other parts but you can just pretty much just take any four minutes and it's a ready-made program

I like this idea :)
It also has an instrumental version of Reflection. Listening to it, I think this can also be a perfect piece for a couple... The final minutes are great for lifts :rolleye:

I think so yes. I mean I like her with Sabre Dance, Kill Bill. I can see her skating Megapolis very well.

quince años, madre mia, quince años, campeona Europa!!!;)

Yes. These are the two ladies. :)

I agree.

The Italians are very knowledgeable, and they talk about skating only. Eurosport Ita though, not Rai which is horrible and really mean. :slink:

I think she has a smart strategy of using lesser known Russian songs for the SP and then doing the big well known theatrical numbers for the LP.

When I first listened to Megapolis I had a bad headache so I wasn't digging it as much. But the more I listen to it the more has grown on me. I can imagine Yulia at 3:03 http://youtu.be/i-4v4XxpnIc?t=3m3s starting to go into her spin finale.

And her Mulan program should end up being the most rememerable of the season and should go over well in her China events.

Yulia is smart and knows what to do to win.

Megapolis is actually similar to Schindler's List in some important ways. Similarity is not so obvious because of the seething obbligato that constantly pushes us forward. But above this rapid movement there is a slow melody that is at exactly the same tempo as SL. This melody also shares the wide intervals with SL. You can read all kinds of programs into this music, such as the fast-paced, monotonous churning of urban life contrasted with the lyricism of the human spirit soaring above, never quite free. Soaring above a rushing base is also a picture of skating, where speed across the ice is contrasted with graceful movement of the body above. Rhythmic complexity will provide her with plenty of raw material and will provide opportunity for great effect. Had any other skater chosen this ideal music I would have been surprised. With her, we can expect it. She is so musical, this will be another great one. Also, last time she was the rebel, she imposed Schindler's List and then recruited as needed. This time her full team is already in place, Yulia-supervised collaboration from the get-go can only enhance the result.

I've watched several videos of performances of SL but have heard only one that does justice to Yulia's accomplishments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke0iusvydl8 The commentators are a male-female team. The feel-good male barks talking points with all the substance of a cheerleader-salesman. But the female commentator really gets at what Yulia has achieved. Her observations are potentially enlightening. I can only hope that she will take up judging so that Yulia also gets the numbers she deserves. I speak only English, so I hope there are other commentators doing justice to the depth of her skating.

Don't be blasphemous my friend. No mortal is fully capable of doing justice to Yulia's skating. ;)
That's why I prefer Eurosport guy with his "I think she could skate the program without the elements and it'd move to tears...".

This's from Maxim Marinin interview:
"Did anyone in particular stick out for you? And who would you name as the leaders of the coming Olympic cycle?

Most of all I was happy for our girls and how they performed at the Games. And they didn't even have any big titles before that! Julia (Lipnitskaya) became European champion just before the Olympics, and Adelina (Sotnikova) was behind her. That one got more love from the Russian people than the other is a different story, but it's something you can never foresee. It's just destiny and you need to come to terms with it."

Very well said, Adelina is great too but Yulia is most people's choice. Not only figure skating fans like her but she makes ordinary people not interested in figure skating watching it because of her. Nobody can explain love, it's something special.

Not that it's really important but I've been wondering for a long time why Yulia only gets +2s on her flying spin.

Worlds 2014 SP (1:28) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMv4ELANLJM

This is funny. I star watching the video for the flying spin (good question by the way) and I completely forgot about it. That's how much I was drawn into her skating.
I went into a trance with her, as Chris from Eurosport rightly put it.
