Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I know this is probably not the best thread for this, but for lack of a better one, will put this out there.

If anyone knows of any bilingual (Japanese/English) people that are knowledgeable enough to interview Japanese skaters at events, please contact me by PM. I am also looking for good photographers that reside/travel in Japan.

GS is a global (international) site—not just North American and/or European—and we would like to expand on that.

I knew he loved video games and knew he was doing this CM, but it made me so happy actually seeing him play! Especially because it's Nintendo and the 3DS at that (sorry to fans of other systems)! That was a 3DS XL, too. I wonder if it's his own that he brought or one that they had prepared for him...
320 hours is pretty impressive with his schedule. It makes me wonder if he doesn't own many games (so he perfects the ones he has), if he's a hardcore gamer (and pours this number of hours into every game), or if he just got sucked into the trap along with many other players. XD

At one point he says "This is absolutely impossible!" I couldn't help but laugh in sympathy--I know that feeling too well...
And see? Video games help him with his timing for jumps-- they're totally educational!

In the CM making, he said being able to participate in the CM is just like receiving the X'mas gift! How cute this boy is! He kept asking a lot of questions about the game and discussing with the staffs. It doesn't surprise me that he spent 320 hours for the MH4 because he always make 100% effort doing everything he really like, such skating and "Kendama". I heard that he used to play the video games all night just to finish the games....

This is the 1st post here...I have to thank you all your posts, which share a lots of information about Yuzuru.

YAY, it's great to have another fan posting on this thread. We've got to keep our record as the longest thread on GS.

The handy game machine in this CM should be Nintendo 3DS LL, which is a new model scheduled to release on October 11. Here is the multimedia introduction of 3DS LL.

Besides, Tokyo Game Show 2014, one of the world's biggest game show, will be held on this Thursday (September 18). Maybe that's the reason this CM making clip goes public today and TV CM will be broadcasted three weeks earlier than Capcom announced.

By the way, what a little surprised me is the chief producer of Monster Hunt series, Ryozo Tsujimoto (辻本良三) hosted Yuzu all the process and made an interview by himself.

interview: http://youtu.be/d6Ma_hGLYiQ?t=1m26s

For a leader of game creation, it should be excited to meet a heavy game player and gets responses directly for his game development. No wonder some tweeters said Yuzu was not to shoot advertising, but to participate in MH fan meeting.;)

 I know next to nothing about nintendo gaming and Monster Hunter. So, though I understand Japanese, I couldn't understand half of what they were talking about.

Wait, woah, what?! How did I miss that? Aaargh, once I finish getting settled here in Japan, I need to catch up on stuff... That is a really good point about coinciding with the Tokyo Game Show--it's a perfect marketing opportunity. Well, but for us fans, it's not marketing--it's just a ray of Yuzuru sunshine to tide us over until Finlandia. ;)

Yeah, I'm sure this was just as much a learning experience for Tsujimoto-san as it was for Yuzu. He gets to see the impact the games have on players, and can draw off Yuzuru's enthusiasm as a reason to keep going with his work; it's a dream-come-true for Yuzu to meet the creator of a favorite game, and maybe learn some insider things on production by talking with staff.

Is this game popular? I only now Pokemon and mario bross

In japan? yes... enormously so! Monster hunter 4 has sold more than 4 million copies and it'has been the only game that could keep up with Pokemon X&Y monstrous sales in 2013...
obviously in the rest of the world the franchise is nearly unknown :rolleye:

wow!! that's explains why the CM clip actually has more than 39.000 views!Amazing!

The funniest thing is that we know this isn't scripted, which means that they stuck a camera in front of him expecting he would do what every videogamer does: talk and yell at the screen. Meaning, if you looked into his room on his day off and watched him play video games, this is a snippet of what you might see.
"Airu juuuump!" XD
