Emilea Zingas & Vadym Kolesnik

I agree with your handicapping. On paper, Canada looks like G/P🥇, LaLa🥈, L/B🥉, and the three American teams battling for 4th. I would love to see ZK contend for bronze though. Politics will be especially interesting this year but I’m so hoping they can push through.

L/B are competing in Shanghai this weekend. Their free is dark and interesting.

At Finlandia, I think G/P and F/G will be the top two, with the Finns in third.

I like all these teams, but not a fan of F/G, or their programs this season. I’ll be very interested to see the programs from G/P, LaLa, T/V and B/S + the Browns.

Emi posted a new TikTok of her first dance spin in practice with Vadym in 2022, along with the same spin at Nebelhorn trophy last month. The entrance and exit are a little rough, and they bump heads, but it’s striking how well they suit each other and how beautiful the spin is already at first attempt.

See it HERE

Emi and Vadym are competing this weekend at Skate Canada, their first Grand Prix of the season!

The ice dance competition is stacked, deeper than Skate America, but Emi and Vadym do have an outside chance to medal. They have added a few new moves to their programs so here’s wishing them the best of luck and clean skates!

The Rhythm Dance is Saturday, October 26, 1:15pm local, 12:15pm USA EDT.
The Free Dance will be competed on Sunday, October 27, 2:10pm local, 1:10pm EDT.

The 27th is also Vadym’s 23rd birthday🎂!
Happy birthday Vadym!!❤️

Emilea and Vadym will be getting their Senior GP campaign under way today at Skate Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Please be aware that Daylight Savings Time in Europe ends tonight. Fortunately, the clocks don't change until after all the Saturday action from Skate Canada is over. But, I'm warning you now because the time differences for Sunday's action will be different.

The Short Dance is due to start at 13:15:00 ADT (12:15:00 EDT / 16:15:00 GMT / 17:15:00 BST / 19:15:00 EEST). So 10 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym will be the 5th partnership to start. So, fifth and final partnership in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 13:15:00 ADT (12:15:00 EDT / 16:15:00 GMT / 17:15:00 BST / 19:15:00 EEST). So 10 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym are due to start at 13:47:45 ADT (12:47:45 EDT / 16:47:45 GMT / 17:47:45 BST / 19:47:45 EEST). So 10h 32m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Emilea and Vadym finished 4th out of 10 in the Short Dance, with a score of 75.63.

Unfortunately, the Short Dance was being held when I was having my evening meal. And I posted a comment lamenting that it was not until after the Saturday action from Halifax was over that the clocks was changing, as having it start an hour earlier would have worked out better for me. But, I did manage to work things so that I could watch the Warm-Up LIVE before leaving to eat.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread about the Warm-Up:

What would we do without Chris and his pronounciations of names?

Saw Emilea and Vadym taking off their team jackets in the background of a shot shortly after the start of the Warm-Up.

Next time we saw them, the camera was following the Aussie partnership, and it got very crowded with three partnerships at the corner of the rink. I breathed in!

Ah, now the cameras are focussing on them. And they are just wandering around casually holding hands! Typical!

And the next time the camera showed them was when they were coming off the ice.

So, to sum up, we didn't see them do any elements. So, we don't know how they are looking today.

Oh, well.

Since I will be eating when they come on, I'll do this now.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

I have now watched their programme. So, here is the sort of comment that I would have written for the competition thread if I had been watching LIVE:

What are you on about Chris? It isn't a Michael Jackson medley, it's a BeeGees medley! :drama:

It took so long for them to get through their first element, the Pattern Dance Step, that I thought that there was going to be no TES Box! But, it looked so good, so I'm not complaining!

Was there a bit of a mistake just before the kicks when the extra layer of music started in "Staying Alive"?

Right. You know how I commented about them looking out of sync in their Twizzles at the Nebelhorn because they were changing position at the same time. Well, it happened here too. And because we had a different camera angle, it looked even more out of sync! Emilea was definitely spinning a LOT faster than Vadym.

There was a point when they were doing some choreography clsoe to the boards that it looked to me like Emilea had got her blade caught in a rut and had to pause for a moment to avoid losing her balance. But, I think they managed to disguise it alright.

All in all, that was brilliant! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

And I just realised - Chris didn't talk during the programme like he normally does. :jaw:   :points:

Glad that he made a point of correcting himself abotu the music as soon as they finished.

Awww. They got a bunch of flowers. And it actually looks good with Emilea's dress.

Chris very complimentary - he said "The quality of the elements defied belief".

Couldn't quite make out what Emilea was saying when waiting for their scores. But, she misses somebody.

They go into the lead.

I know I haven't seen anybody that went before them yet, but that was so good that I would have been annoyed if they hadn't.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

As for the comments from those that were watching LIVE, there were quite a few comments about Chris saying that they were skating to Michael Jackson. But, to keep this post focussed on Emilea and Vadym, I will not quote them all here. However, I will quote this one:

Well, their dresses certainly fit the BeeGees much better than MJ.

@fia_nrt had commented this about the Browns, who had skated just before Emilea and Vadym:

I feel like I need to keep an eye of this pair. I am normally not following ice dance, but this was fun!

And then followed it up with this:

Okay I will say the same about Zingas and Kolesnik. This is also fun :D

The member with one of the best usernames on this forum was straight to the point:

THAT I liked.

As was @norwegianfairytale:

Wow, that was great :clap::clap:

One of our German members who attended the Nebelhorn Trophy commented:

Just as good as I remember from Nebelhorn. Also very well done!

I haven't had a chance to watch the host broadcaster's coverage yet, but @4everchan was watching it and commented about something Kaitlyn Weaver said:

Weaver is nice... I can see which one is the better dancer.

@amanda b made an interesting observation, which I will have to keep in mind when watching the rest:

That had a real 70's vibe to it, the others have all been a bit generic to my eyes.

And @Weathergal perfectly summed up the way I feel about the music:

You had me at Bee Gees. You lost me at the re-mixes. Ack! I know the judges scored them well but just too frantic looking for my taste.

And a lovely comment from @ManyCairns to end with:

I just love, love, love Zingas/Kolesnik. Just love their enthusiasm and joy. Watched Shanghai 4CC last night to get in the mood for Dance and remembered how much I liked them, and my budding fandom has really blossomed this year!

Emilea and Vadym are currently 1.13 points behind 3rd position, Evgeniia LOPAREVA / Geoffrey BRISSAUD (FRA), and 0.66 points ahead of 5th position, Natálie TASCHLEROVÁ / Filip TASCHLER (CZE). All three partnerships are at the bottom of a group of 4 partnerships covered by 2.37 points, which is headed by Marjorie LAJOIE / Zachary LAGHA (CAN) in 2nd position, 2.37 points ahead of Emilea and Vadym.

I normally use a two point gap to define groups. But, although there is a gap of 2.79 points behind the Taschlers to the Browns, I am inclined to say that what we actually have is the partnership in the lead and the partnership in last position out on their own, and everybody else is in a group where 8 partnerships are covered by 7.24 points, which stretches down to Alicia FABBRI / Paul AYER (CAN) in 9th position, 5.53 points behind Emilea and Vadym.

Although Emilea and Vadym look to be in a strong position, their position is actually quite precarious. On the one hand, the partnerships in 2nd and 3rd position are both well within striking distance, and so they have a good chance of climbing up and claiming a Silver Medal or a Bronze Medal. However, if their Free Dance does not go as well as hoped, they could easily slip down the order.

So they need to have a good Free Dance to ensure that they get the best result that they can.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Free Dance is due to start at 14:10:00 ADT (13:10:00 EDT / 17:10:00 GMT / 19:10:00 EET). So 11 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym will be the 7th partnership to start. So, second partnership to go in Group 2.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:55:55 ADT (13:55:55 EDT / 17:55:55 GMT / 19:55:55 EET). So 11h 45m from now.

Emilea and Vadym are due to start at 15:10:30 ADT (14:10:30 EDT / 18:10:30 GMT / 20:10:30 EET). So 12 hours from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Emilea and Vadym finished 5th out of 10 in the FD, with a score of 113.78. This meant that they dropped to 5th position overall, with a score of 189.41.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Free Dance LIVE. The previous night's Formula 1 Qualifying wasn't up on Sky's on demand service yet, so I had to watch the repeat that was on TV at the same time as the Free Dance. So, I wasn't be able to pop in to watch my kids like I planned to.

But, I have now watched the Group 2 Warm-Up and their skate on the archived livestream. So, to start, here is the sort of comment that I would have written in the competition thread about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

Chris was rather far behind in introducing the skaters when they were being presented to the audience. When the camera moved to show Emilea and Vadym, he was only starting to talk about the Taschlers on before them. And he only started talking about Emilea and Vadym after the camera had moved onto the French partnership on after them.

I often think it would be better if the broadcast commentators would let us listen to what the rinkside announcers are saying during the Warm-Up, and only add their own wee additional bits in between. What is the point in having two different people saying essentially the same things to the two sets of audiences? If the rinkside announcer is good enough to talk to the spectators, they are good enough for the viewers too. And I'm sure the broadcast commentators would be grateful for a bit of a breather.

Anyway, Emilea and Vadym were wearing their team jackets during the presentations.

When it was Emilea and Vadym's turn to be featured, Emilea was on her own at the end of the rink. She skated around the edge and then Vadym skated across the middle of the ice to join her. I think it was just a case that he took a little longer to take off his jacket than she did! When they met, they started holding hands, and he waved to the audience. And they continued just skating around holding hands until PJ finished talking, and then they started into practicing a sequence. And it was looking good, but then the camera left them.

Next time they were shown, when the 1 minute left announcement was made, they were doing some lovely Twizzles. But then it got a bit crowded, and they started just skating while holding hands again.

And that was the last we saw of them until they were at the gate putting their skate-guards back on.

What we saw in the Warm-Up looked good. So, I hope everything looks good during the programme too!

CaroLiza_fan

And here is the sort of comment that I would have written about their programme if I had been watching LIVE:

Chris building it up from the start, saying "Does a medal beckon for this young American team?"

Wow! The audience was so mesmerised in the first part of the programme that you could hear every scrape of the blades! Even when they were applauding, they were doing it quietly so as not to spoil the mood.

Everything faultless during the first piece of music.

When the music changed, the audience started getting louder with their applause.

Out of sync on the Twizzles.

But otherwise, that was amazing. And Chris said as much after they finished.

A green salad for everything!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Yeah, you're right, Chris. They are exhausted! And is it any wonder with the stuff they were doing towards the end?! They were like a couple of contortionists!

Chris says there was an air of quality. But then he starts pointing out where they are losing points, and you realise that it is maybe not going to score as much as you thought.

Emilea cheerily saying hello to various members of her family. Vadym manages a wave, but is still visibly exhausted.

Then they start playing with their cuddly toys.

Camera zooms into Emilea and Vadym, so that Igor is no longer in shot.

Ach! Vadym has picked up an American accent! :bang: I really hate it when people lose their own accents. It's losing part of who you are!

They go into 2nd position in both the Free and overall.

Chris, is shocked that they have dropped a position. Vadym and particularly Emilea both look very disappointed. (Igor is still out of shot, so we don't know his reaction).

Although I haven't seen the Taschlers, I am shocked too. I thought Emilea and Vadym were great. So, I'm going to say this anyway:

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Looking at the Protocols, I am baffled. There wasn't a single minus in their box at all. The Twizzles were the only element that got GOE that was less than +1.00 (and even at that it was +0.97), and the only element that got any Judges marks of less than +2 (two 0's and two +1's). But all the other GOE's and Judges marks were really good.

Emilea and Vadym finished the Free Dance 0.85 points behind 4th position, Natálie TASCHLEROVÁ / Filip TASCHLER (CZE), and 6.82 points ahead of 6th position, Oona BROWN / Gage BROWN (USA).

Overall, Emilea and Vadym finished 0.19 points behind 4th position, the Taschlers, and 10.27 points ahead of 6th position, the Browns.

I don't know about anybody else, but even though Emilea and Vadym have dropped a position, I have to smile at them ending up as the filling in a sibling sandwich. I know, little pleases the innocent; far less the fool.

It is disappointing that they dropped a position. But, looking at the scores of the partnerships on the podium, 4th position would have been the best they could have hoped for in both the FD and overall. And they were only marginally behind it in both.

They've got a couple of weeks now to re-group, and to make sure that they get their Twizzles in sync, before we seee them again in Espoo for their second of their Senior GP's.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Thank you CaroLiza-fan! Great recap!

I love their free program SOOO MUCH! I was disappointed they were knocked out of fourth but more for them (on Vadym’s birthday no less!) than for myself. I also felt, compared to Nebelhorn, they were just slightly flat in the last section. Fatigue? The first section was simply mesmerizing. The Moose Head cursed the American twizzles all afternoon! It was just a tiny bit too much to overcome. The top 6-7 teams were all very good. But there are tons of people talking about them, especially the free dance, and that’s a good thing.

If anyone was going to move ahead of them, I’m glad it was the Taschlers - a very underrated, very good team who’ve had some struggles, and who are friends with Emi and Vadym.

Emi and Vadym are back in Novi working with Benoit on tweaking details on the FD. They are posting short videos of their program changes on TikTok - Benoit is posting them on IG.

As an American Midwesterner, I’m amused to hear the flat, Midwestern vowels and broad r’s coming from Vadym! But after all, he’s been living in the USA since he was 14. I promise, he can’t pass for native yet! (Citizenship next year.) And he is very proud of his Ukrainian heritage.

FYI, Vadym’s brother’s home was destroyed last night in a Russian attack. Vadym posted video on IG today of first responders rescuing his little nephew and sister in law from the wreckage.

Vadym’s brother is a lawyer currently serving in the Ukraine DF. It was he who encouraged a 14 year old Vadym to come to the USA and audition for Igor Shpilband’s coaching group.

Quite understandably, Vadym is not feeling kindly towards Russia and Putin sympathizers. Despite so much success pursuing his skating dreams with Emi, being so far from his family during the war must be a strain. Thankfully his family appears physically unharmed. Keep them all in your prayers.

Ach! Vadym has picked up an American accent! :bang: I really hate it when people lose their own accents. It's losing part of who you are!
I'm just zooming in to say that people who have a good ear for music and languages really can't help picking up the way the people around them talk. Also, the more or less rule (although it's not ironclad) is that children who learn their 2nd language by age 14 are the ones who'll be speaking it without a foreign accent. So that puts Vadym right on the border! Also, since he lived with Avonlea's family for a few years, he may have picked up American (and midwestern) accent more readily. Without trying ... that's my point ... and I know because it happened to me; I hadn't realized my speech patterns were changing because I did it unconsciously.

I do agree with you that "it's part of who you are" ... and that's why I've deliberately picked back up some of the Oklahoma-isms that I cherish. And sometimes people hear my slight southern accent now before I've told them.

I did read your whole post, and I enjoyed it. I'm not very consistent with checking in on fan fests, but I'm a huge fan of Emilea and Vadym, and I'll be watching and cheering :dance3:in a few hours.

Emilea and Vadym finished 6th out of 10 in the Short Dance, with a score of 72.72.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread when they were being introduced:

I completely forgot that Emilea and Vadym were last to skate in Group 1. For some reason I thought they were first to skate in Group 2. (I think I got confused because Sofía and Asaf were the first to skate in their group in Tallinn). So, I missed them doing their Warm-Up.

I was actually intending to watch Elizabet Gervits at the NRW Trophy now, because you can't pause or re-wind that stream. But she has withdrawn, so I'm here to join you guys watching my other kids.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

First Pattern Dance looked good.

Oh, shut up Mark! I know the music at this point isn't great, but don't tell us the rules during the programme!

Mark said something was wrong with the Twizzles, but they looked OK to me. (My Dad was talking at the time, so I didn't hear what Mark said).

It all looked good to me.

Vadym still playing to the crowd after they finished.

They looked disappointed when they came off the ice.

Ah, saw the problem with the Twizzles in the replay. Emilea very nearly lost her balance at the end.

They go into 2nd position.

My goodness it is tight between the American partnerships! 0.77 points covering all three of them! :drama:

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

As for other members, the first comment came from our resident video archive list compiler, @labgoat:

Go Emilia & Vadym!

My good friend @elektra blue left a typically funny comment after they finished:

sorry, Vadym, you're nice and have gorgeous hair, but the real Tony Manero is Tomas Lorenz Guarino Sabate

@IceDancingQueen left a comment which I don't actually understand, but I will quote it here anyway in case somebody else does:

I also feel Emilea is too white bread for this music. Vadym on the other hand was very believable 🕺

One of our valued Predictions Games scorers, @Weathergal, commented:

I usually find Emilea very sharp but not as much this time. They didn't seem as strong as normal.

@Seven Sisters commented about being fed up with the music:

This is not my favorite RD—I think I’m BeeGee’d out by now—but I love how they begin with Vadym immediately taking charge of the start of the pattern, in your face, judges!

I kinda agree. Except with me, it is the remixes that I am fed up with. I would prefer to hear the songs as they were originally intended.

Finally, @labgoat came back with a fair assessment of their performance:

Well I am impressed that they got through that dance as well given the sad experience Vadym's brother had in Ukraine (home bombed and young family rescued from rubble). They were cooking with this skate, but a couple of unfortunate levels lost by Emilea will hurt their score. But my respect and admiration to be able to skate as well as they did when life events take precedence.

Emilea and Vadym are currently 0.63 points behind 5th position, Oona BROWN / Gage BROWN (USA), and 0.14 points ahead of 7th position, Eva PATE / Logan BYE (USA). All three partnerships are at the top of a group of 4 partnerships covered by 0.79 points, which is completed by Yuka ORIHARA / Juho PIRINEN (FIN) in 8th position, 0.16 points behind Emilea and Vadym.

I normally use a two point gap to define groups. But, the gaps on either side of the 4 partnership group are not that much more than 2 points. So, I would be inclined so say that we have a group of 6 partnerships covered by 6.50 points, stretching from Natálie TASCHLEROVÁ / Filip TASCHLER (CZE) in 4th position, 2.78 points ahead of Emilea and Vadym, down to Hannah LIM / Ye QUAN (KOR), 3.72 points behind Emilea and Vadym.

When you have a group this close, anything can happen. And with being right in the middle of it, Emilea and Vadym could go either direction. So, they need to have a good Free Dance to make sure they go upwards. And, in the process, become the top partnership representing America.

So, let's hope they do have a good Free Dance!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Free Dance is due to start at 14:40:00 EET (07:40:00 EDT / 12:40:00 GMT). So 6 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym will be the 5th partnership to start. So, fifth and final partnership in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:40:00 EET (07:40:00 EDT / 12:40:00 GMT). So 6 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym are due to start at 15:18:05 EET (08:18:05 EDT / 13:18:05 GMT). So 6h 38m from now.

Emilea and Vadym finished 3rd out of 10 in the FD, with a score of 116.76. This meant that they climbed to 5th position overall, with a score of 189.48.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Free Dance LIVE as I was eating my Sunday Dinner at the time. (And very nice it was too!)

But, I have now watched the Group 1 Warm-Up and their skate on the archived livestream. So, to start, here is the sort of comment that I would have written in the competition thread about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

I wonder if Mark has ever asked Emilea how to pronounce her name. Because he is the only person I have ever heard pronounce it like the name "Emily". And I don't think that is the correct way. Apart from anything else, when I've been in Cyprus, I've seen kitchen appliances with the name "Emily" on them. And I don't think her parents would name her after a toaster or a kettle!

Before the camera focussed in on them in the last minute of the Warm-Up, any time I spotted Emilea and Vadym in the background of shots, they weren't doing elements.

When the camera came to them, Mark pointed out that they were doing one-foot turns. But, when they finished them, they just started skating around. When the male rinkside announcer eventually finished this speel and called their names, Vadym and Emilea waved to the audience.

They got a big reaction from the audience.

And then the Warm-Up was over, and we saw thenm coming off the ice.

We may not be any the wiser as to the form they are in today, but I hope it is good come the programme!

CaroLiza_fan

And here is the sort of comment that I would have written about their programme if I had been watching LIVE:

I really liked the way the female rinkside announcer said Emilea's name. It sounded just right. But, Mark still called her "Emily" straight afterwards. :rolleye:

Beautiful choreography at the start.

Oh shut up Mark. I was getting mesmerised by the programme, and then you chirp in and spoil the mood.

Change of music, Don't like it as much as the first piece.

Twizzles out of sync.

They are really getting into it as the music builds up.

Mark said after they finished that it was sensational. And I totally agree.

Emilea and Vadym both looked disappointed coming off the ice.

MY GIRL GOT A FLOWER CROWN!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH @NoNameFace !!!!!!! 👑 🌻

And she loves it!!! She was pointing excitedly at it when the camera came to them after the replays.

They go into the lead of both the FS and overall.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

My good friend @elektra blue posted this when they were getting introduced:

@CaroLiza_fan your daughter on ice

Unfortunately, I was eating at the time, and didn't see it until about 2h 30m later, when I replied:

I'm afraid I didn't see them. I was still eating my Sunday dinner.

Roast chicken, bacon, stuffing and spuds.

It was lovely!

(Don't worry. I'll watch Emilea and Vadymn either tonight, or tomorrow morning).

CaroLiza_fan

Our resident video archive list compiler also wished them luck, saying:

Go Emilea & Vadym! Forget yesterday, today is a new day.

To which @elektra blue replied ater they finished:

@norwegianfairytale delt the same as I did, and expressed it in two words:

Beautiful skate :clap::clap::clap:

@IceDancingQueen was a bit more critical:

Well skated from Z/K but I don’t know if I will ever like them. I really miss Avonley 😭 So much of the choreography just felt taken from other ice dance couples - like the straight arm choreography which Green/Parsons used and the twisty knee lift that Chock/Bates used. So it didn’t feel very original to me.

Emilea and Vadym finished the Free Dance 1.53 points behind 2nd position, Juulia TURKKILA / Matthias VERSLUIS (FIN), and 0.62 points ahead of 4th position, Piper GILLES / Paul POIRIER (CAN). All three partnerships are at the top of a group of 4 partnerships covered by 3.36 points, which is completed by Natálie TASCHLEROVÁ / Filip TASCHLER (CZE) in 5th position, 1.83 points behind Emilea and Vadym.

Overall, Emilea and Vadym finished 0.95 points behind 4th position, the Taschlers, and 5.84 points ahead of 6th position, Yuka ORIHARA / Juho PIRINEN (FIN).

They were just beautiful. And I am delighted that they got into the Top 3 of the Free Skate. It's a pity that it only got them one position higher than where they started. But, it wasn't like they were a million miles behind getting a further position higher. They were less than a point behind the Taschlers in 4th.

One thing that should concern them is that one of the Judges called them for a choreographic violation. Fortunately, none of the others did, so it was no-where near the majority required to get a deduction. Nevertheless, they will have to be careful in future not to repeat whatever it is they did, because more Judges might call it. And they can't afford to be getting deductions for avoidable things like that.

But, on the whole, they were great!

And we don't have to wait long until we see them in action again. They are back in action at the Warsaw Cup on Wednesday.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Warsaw Cup Senior Short Dance: Results; Protocols

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrC2HsoXREU

Emilea and Vadym finished 2nd out of 20 in the Short Dance, with a score of 77.20.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Oooh, that was good timing to discover that this is on. My kids are kicking off this group!

Camera has picked up Emilea. And she takes off her jacket.

Ah, Vadym has finally arrived.

When another partnership were being focussed on, Emilea and Vadym came into the front of the shot doing some very nice Twizzles.

And that was as much of them as we saw, because after they focussed on each partnership, they showed the current standings for the rest of the Warm-Up.

Here they are.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EMILEA AND VADYM!! :cheer:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

Picture blanked out for a fraction of a second during the first Pattern Dance / "Jive Talking"

Honestly don't know what I can critique. It was all great!

Actually, just saw in the replays that they went out of sync at the end of the first set of Twizzles. Didn't notice that LIVE (And I was keeping an eye out for that!)

Not a lot of room for them and Igor in the results area.

Awww. Emilea said hello to her parents.

Diana giving us a LOT of background info on them. Good girl!  :points:

Ah, the camera has been repositioned. The results area is bigger than it looked when the camera was in the previous position.

Quite a few cuddly toys.

They go into 2nd position.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!!! :cheer:

@auser pointed out something more technical:

Congrats Emilea and Vadym on level 4 Pst

My colleague in this thread, @Rackon, commented a bit later:

Dynamic skate from ZK - so fast and sharp! Thought they would be pushing 79-80 with that performance. Their presentation is so good. Into secondz

There were two comments put up after mine but, looking back at the thread now, I am not sure whether they were about Emilea and Vadym or the partnership that were on after them. So, I will move on.

Emilea and Vadym are currently 3.16 points behind 1st position, Evgeniia LOPAREVA / Geoffrey BRISSAUD (FRA), and 2.32 points ahead of 3rd position, Jennifer JANSE van RENSBURG / Benjamin STEFFAN (DEU).

Jen and Ben are at the head of a group of 3 partnerships covered by 1.25 points, stretching down to Eva PATE / Logan BYE (USA) in 5th position, 4.82 points behind Emilea and Vadym.

Emilea and Vadym are in a very strong position, and if thy have a good Free Dance, they could win this. However, they have to be careful because the group currently fighting over third position is very tight, and if Emilea and Vadym make any mistakes, there is the potential that they could slip to the bottom of the Top 5.

So, let's hope they do have a good Free Dance!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Free Dance is due to start at 18:20:00 CET (12:20:00 EDT / 17:20:00 GMT / 19:20:00 EET). So 10 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym will be the 19th and penultimate partnership to start. So, fourth and penultimate partnership in Group 4.

The Group 4 Warm-Up is due to start at 20:51:30 CET (14:51:30 EDT / 19:51:30 GMT / 21:51:30 EET). So 12h 31m from now.

Emilea and Vadym are due to start at 21:21:00 CET (15:21:00 EDT / 20:21:00 GMT / 22:21:00 EET). So 13h 1m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

The French judge had Lopareva/Brissaud in first in the RD - by 10 points (!) over Emi and Vadym in second. 🙄 Talk about creating a cushion! Canadian judge had Emi and Vadym in first❤️

Way to go NoNameFace! Emi has her flower crown hanging in her hotel room in Warsaw.👏🏻
