Stolbova & Klimov at 2017 worlds : 13th in the SP (almost did not qualify for the LP, lowest TES among those who qualified), 3rd in the LP, 5th overall.
I thought Aljona's and Bruno's 'jump' from 4th in the short (with a distance of almost 6 points) to first through their fabulous Free at the Olympic's was pretty amazing, even if less spectacular perhaps than Mao's jump in 2014 and Nathan's even bigger one in 2018. It's not as if the others skated terribly bad or something...Meagan and Eric landed a Quad Salkow, Sui and Han had only minor mistakes (but these weighed up against Bruno's doubling a salkow in the Short...which normally shouldn't be that bad, but at this Olympics all mistakes counted rather heavily), and only poor Evgenia and Vladimir really messed up, although still showing off some good elements as well - and I'm not counting the awful programme here.
