Haha, I can understand the judges, I would have given Javier all the +3's as well. He looked at them so serious a couple of times ... they didn't dare to give him low marks. When the champ lays it down everyone has to show deep respect.
So hope Hanyu will scare them to death at Saturday, he looks pretty angry to me today. Never seen him like that

And the jumps looked quite good. the 3A was quite impressive - decent height and ice coverage. I think people have associated Jason with inconsistent 3A for so long that people can't fathom that he can jump a good one.

Seriously, it is mind-boggling. He skated a pristine clean short, and he's exactly where I thought he would be: 6th-10th. It's like they see no quad, so they must think triples are worth one point or something.

He's behind who he should be behind. He and Kolyada are basically tied. People saying Kolyada should be further ahead obviously are idiots who don't understand Jason's strengths, or Jason haters who think he should be down with Brezina or Ge or something.

I'm watching ES recap of Men event. It's amazing. Mika and Boyang were spectacular. Boyang 4Lz3T is gonna be legendary, really.

To illustrate how good the short program event was:

Shoma, Patrick, Boyang, Kolyada and Jason has no negative GOEs at all.
In fact, Patrick and Jason has not even zeroes.

Javi has one -1.

And Jason closes the night with a spectacular program. Doesn't even need a quad and it was one of the best of the night.

Thank you gents for THE best men's SP ever.

Just got back from the arena and couldn't agree more. That was the best men's short competition I've ever seen in my life.

a wonderful evening these boys are really taking the sport to another level but kinda ruined by judges score

Javier +3 3a(?) really? FUsp4(?) with positive goe (?)
Umo +2.29 3a (?) for hang on?
chan +2 3a (?) also for hang on? Chan got a little lucky there he could easily fell with that landing, does judges give extra sympathy score for every 3a chan landed now?

now i fear what the sport would turn into with +5 goes
i understand judges are voluntary work and like skaters they made mistakes but, well, i can always quit watching when the sport is completely at the mercy of judges.

I have strange taste, but I find Bychenko's costume to be super cool and sexy!

You're not the only one, because I love his costume too! :luv17:

Moreover, a fashion critic picked his costume as one of the best at the competition on an Ice Network article covering Rostelecom Cup,

Are you okay? Do you need an ambulance?

Just to inform you, just before Patrick skates, someone was saying the position would be 1. Javi, 2. Shoma 3. Boyang and I said wait a minute, not so fast, Patrick has not skated yet.

i am fine... :) Patrick sent me to heaven already....

There is no hating. His jump difficulty is so far below almost all others but he is 8th! That he's so good in other things doing quads is not necessary. He's like being great at figures when they dominated over free skating in some ways.

Tarasova said about Brown's performance: it was a beautiful skating of yesterday.

Javi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this the cleanest performance of the program for two years. Except the a bit travelling spin, he rocked everything.

All jumps are marvelous have great flows in and out like feathers or cat's landing! :agree:Awesome!

He delivers when he has to. Wow..I have goosebumps.

That 4S was so easy and light he looks like he's got all the time on the landing.
I still think his and Hanyu's are the most well rounded, best conceived and choreographed programs.

One rotation on one jump. That is the difference between him and Kolyada in the short in jumps.

His jump layout in the long is far blow the top guys who are doing 3/5 quads, sure. But in terms of the second tier skaters, most are only doing 2 quads. That is not TONS of points to make up, especially when they more than likely screw up, and Jason's strength is that he goes clean.

I don't understand this "far below almost all others" crap. It's a cop-out.

The judges sure give Uno no gifts relative to the others in either GOE or PCS.
