Yep, it does. Tracy and Ghislain aren't in the pictures so maybe they were on their way back. I doubt Jason would have stayed just for the sightseeing.

At the moment, it’s 1:00 am Monday in China. His Instagram story is from 3 hours ago. We can’t tell whether he did a bit of sightseeing in China on his last day or he’s staying all of next week, because the story and all the photos we’ve seen were posted with a bit of a lag.

But Conrad went online on IG 13 hours ago. ;)

Thrilled to see Jason, his TCC family, and part of Team China having fun!

With next weekend including Canada Day, the summer camp at TCC looks to be having a quieter first week, maybe with Tracy and Ghislain at the helm. It'll be a long weekend here, so I can see Brian and Paige leaving on maybe Saturday, especially if Brian wants a couple days at the cottage to decompress before the intensity of summer training.

If Jason does actually go to CO, I'll be looking forward to reports and maybe even a clip? Wish US summer events had free streams like they do in Ontario and Québec. Otherwise, I hope for a few summer TCC shenanigans like last summer. It actually feels like summer here now after a very wet and cool spring. If Jason wants to hang out on the waterfront/the Toronto Islands again, he'll have to hope for some drier weeks ahead, because we broke the previous Lake Ontario flood record. :(

Whether Jason arrives in Toronto this or next, week, I wish him a productive and happy summer training season. He's developed warm relationships at TCC, so I am sure his rinkmates will be supporting him, just as he supports them.

I’m not sure why that’s significant? There’s a 14 hour time difference with my time zone (mountain time in US), so it just suggests that Conrad posted his story about the Great Wall ten hours earlier than Jason, Paige, and Brian posted their stuff. Or is that what you meant?

@Haleth welcome back to the thread and thanks for your insight- don’t be a stranger!

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. 😓 I meant that 13 hours ago they all were on the great wall in China because Conrad went live on his IG so I assume Jason is still in China.

I really hope we get confirmation soon that Jason will not be at the Broadmoor Open, because the location is too close for me to ignore, and I have way too much to do this week, especially on Friday night when the Peggy Fleming Trophy thing takes place. That would mean killing my schedule and breaking some promises. What a dilemma.

Let’s try calling the club tomorrow. Maybe one of us will get an answer.

… ETA He hasn’t had SP very long. I wonder if he would just do FS or Peggy Fleming.

FWIW, re Broadmoor Open:

I know that much additional discussion has ensued, but will mention that I am not sure that it is possible to compete only the FS??
Although it is possible to compete "SP Only."

I think the two offerings are: [1] "SP Only and [2] "Combined Event" (SP + FS).
(With some skaters choosing to enter both [1] and [2], thus competing their SP twice.)

I think withdrawal from the SP of "Combined Event" would mean withdrawal from the entirety of "Combined Event"?

That would be fun! But is she tiny enough?

Today's update from Karen Chen's second consecutive day of Insta Live:

She is 5' 1" tall. She had occasion to mention her height more than once.

I believe the height difference for Tessa and Scott is approx. six inches … about the same as for Karen and Jason. :)

(If[????] Jason really does skate at Broadmoor Open, then Papa Brown and Karen could go ahead and start their Project Ice Dance planning then.
Karen confirmed on Insta Live that she is competing at Broadmoor.)

Sorry just had to rant:
I heard that some people are implying that with Jason's GP assignments it will be hard for him to get into the final.
Well they should not judge him yet a lot of things can happen.

Why anyone wants to make definite predictions of the MEN given past seasons is beyond me.

I think what's challenging is that Jason was like half-and-half last season. He was beyond brilliant in the SP but far from it in the FS, and that was what we saw in Worlds. The men's field is pretty unpredictable honestly so basically people's predictions are as good as the last competition, which mean far from certain.

I'm not going to even speculate at this point. :)

Now, we are sure Jason is still in China. Paige Aistrop, the spin specialist at TCC posted 2 new IG stories, one is a picture featuring her with Brian, Conrad, Corey and Jason and the other showing Jason training with Brian and a group of young chinese athletes.

So I contacted Broadmoor. He is scheduled for Peggy Fleming on Friday night but they are aware he’s in China and don’t know if he’ll make it.

Whoa! If he does make it (and he might) he'll be pretty jet lagged. And he isn't going to be doing his new SP. I predict last year's masterpiece. Why not! Flight time from Beijing to Colorado Springs is at least 20 hours with stop. He would need to leave China no later than Thursday morning to have a prayer of making it. I can't imagine that it's worth it to him, but if he's actually committed I bet he'll be there. Someone should post this question on Jason's Twitter and Instagram Acct. He might answer.

I’m guessing that maybe he was invited to participate and that he will try to go if he can. But it’s looking rather unlikely. The thing is, he might be able to adapt one of his old competitive or show programs, but the requirements are different (number of jumps, length of program, etc). So he can’t do an old program without changes.

He would need to add a jump somewhere. Maybe he needs to add a spin. Other than that, I think Love is a Bi**h works. He's got his signature spin and a great step sequence. But yes, some rehearsal would be desirable. I suppose he could be working on it in China? But I can also see that he might not be able to do it. It's just that he hasn't apparently told them that he can't do it. I think he would let them know asap if he can't make it.
