Hmm. Well... that music certainly is... interesting.

^Tell me this is a joke. Brian's music is just awful.
I like K/S and their program but I agree with your point, I think physical mismatch is one of the factor. And Yuko and Sasha skating style is quite different from each other. For example, thier new SP, I think it suit sasha much more than Yuko. Yuko look awkward and don't really have fun with the music as suppose to be.
Anyway, I hope Yuko could gain some more weight, she is so skinny and it make her skate look powerless.
I've not been a big Yuko fan over the years ( though I've given her credit ) but loved their programs last yr.. OTOH , I have been a big Volosozhar fan , and was so thrilled even from the first photos of her and Trankov together.
This may also be why with as good as Volosozhar's/Bazarova's posture is they skate like an unemotional blocks of wood; it doesn't matter who the choreographer is, they skate the way they skate and good/bad choreography won't change that.
I disagree that M/T's programs were weak. Transitions aren't the end all to skating, though I realize some people think they are. I felt Maria and Maxim had some good SPs that played to their combined strengths, and based on their scoring, I think the judges agreed. Their problem was that they lacked consistency, had weak LPs, and obviously, their personal issues. I know Max has since referred to the programs he did with Maria as "lyrical snot", and while I agree they didn't have a great range in their programs, I think this perception has same basis in their other problems. When emo Max was with Maria, people blamed Maria for their generic programs. They said because Maria couldn't handle choreography, they can't have a good program. Fast forward to now, emo Max still couldn't come up with a decent short or long program. No transitions, no choreography, nothing. I think he's very limited.
). Max had better programs with Maria. Tatiana has better programs with Stas, for all that he was a limited skater. They are too good a pair to be given such boring choreography. When was Volosozhar "an unemotional block of wood"? She is very emotional when she skates.
Tatiana
Another one
That is pretty much her only emotion. It looks like she just ate bad seafood or just woke up from a nap. Trankov is just the opposite, he emotes too much and his exaggerations are starting to look ridiculous. I don't hate the choreography, just the execution.
That is one thing she should have picked up from Aliona, not her hair color. The first two look like the exact same face (which is the same face I posted  )
The second one looks like she is in pain, yet Max looks fine, I wonder what they are trying to express? That is one thing she should have picked up from Aliona, not her hair color.
Well, most competing skaters haven't lived anywhere near 4 decades and they may be connecting to and appreciating some great music in fresh and individual ways. I don't mind seeing their fresh and individual interpretations.
}Interesting. It's entirely possible that Tatiana simply looked better when paired with Stanislav than she really was. But I watch Kavaguti with Smirnov, and I think he's considerably better. I'll have to watch some of their programs and focus on her, but while I've found her reserve somewhat fascinating, I wouldn't label it expressive.
