Ashley medals at the GPF 3 years in a rowWill people now finally stop calling her old, or the epitome of the decline of American figure skating?

Elizaveta and Elena are also my favorites among the pack of Russian ladies - even if I sometimes think their style is weird. Great podium.

Ashely actually left some points of the table even as great as that skate was - level 2 spin, level 3 spin. So she can definitely break 130 with a perfect all level 4 spins/level 3 step skate.
I am in SHOCK! But so happy! not a jumping bean, but so beautiful. Holy Crud, Grandma! Also, with all due respect, I would've had her PCS above Tukt (as gutsy as Tukt is
Anna started off so artistically fine and then after her fall, the artistry was lost. She failed to hold her moves and missed the accents of the music. Everything was so rushed and unpolished. She might have scored much better in her components if she had held the artistic side together despite the technical mistakes. She looked so distraught after her performance and her coach too!

Liza is now the 10th ladies' skater in history to score 200+ points in an international competition under the IJS.

Felt this competition was rather lacklustre. (With the exception of the crowds, it's so nice to see an enthusiastic crowd at a different location than at the usual places) Tuktamysheva deserved this win, loved Elena like usual, but getting a bit worried about her jumps. I'm sad for Anna, but she looks so mature, people seem to forget that she is so young still and seem to hold her to different standards. Let her be sad, let her look sad. It might be her character, being totally devastated. I think she has a right to that, as do all the others. Why should she smile, if she feels like crying?
Doesn't seem to be Yulia's year, although I really like her programs and think artistically she did improve from last season. Beside that I don't think a skate like that should have beaten Rika Hongo's...there have been a lot of discussions on this in the men's thread, but so much is tied to reputation, and the way falls don't seem to matter much anymore....ugh.

We all just witnessed the RISE OF A CHAMPION.
After so many challenges last year, I thought I would never see Tut again. Huge congrats to her and her coaches.
And a huge hug to Ashley, the only lady among these young girls. Great job today, looking forward to seeing her at nationals.

This is one of the key differences between Pogorilaya and Radionova and why I consider Radionova to be a far superior competitor.
True. She's not that special (only to me). What I mean is, I love that she's doing it, but what she's doing I won't remember. But I LOVE her comeback.

Other than at the Russian test at the beginning of the season, do we really know what shape Sotnikova is in, how her programs are to think she'll go to Worlds?

Absolutely agree. I'm just really deflated that ISU or whoever can't find the right balance in how to judge figure skating. I mean, how hard is this? I go back to the idea of 2 programs. One tech and the other artistic. Maybe no short. There has got to be a way of scoring and judging that is fair and is prohibitive of cheating judges.
Aslhey made some major upgrades since TEB (new combo, 2nd double axel, and the lutz at the very end), and re-arranged some stuff. it's working great, and if she can get the levels on the spins, she could challenge for a world medal. this is my favotite LP this year, and i think we haven't seen the best of it yet.
I pretty much think everyone consigned her to last, maybe 5th if she as lucky, which I think is kind of sad- for us.

I remember people wondering why Tuktamysheva still had 2 GP spots this year... That is why!
