2014-2015 GPF Ladies Short Program 12/11

The judges are beginning to give up on Ashley. They consistently gave her a 32 PCS for subpar skates but now she's down to a 30.

What Ashley needs to do is keep her mouth shut about the Russian girls and work her butt off on the triple-triple combo.

No, the Italian commentator (I mean the RaiSport one, not the Eurosport one) noticed how both her flip and lutz had unclear edges, and I agree: watching the slow-motion I remember noticing how unusually wrong the edge of the flip was... Maybe it wasn't a clean lutz and an "e" flip, but a ! for both flip and lutz for sure

Well, I'm speaking with Ambesi (Eurospost) right now. He says the flip was a wrong call, but the lutz could be wrong.

:cheer: Liza and Yulia!

Liza has a certain raw, almost wild energy. Maybe it's not to everyone's tastes, but it really makes me sit up and watch every time she's skating. Didn't expect the 'tano -3T--did she plan it, or did she throw it in when she saw Yulia do lutz-toe? I think she just went too high on the lutz and couldn't control it--looked like she was trying to jump over the boards.

I didn't expect Elena to fall... But if you'd cut out the fall, and just watched the rest, no one would be able to tell she'd made a mistake. She knows how to perform rain or shine.

Still a fight left in the free--only 7 points between first and last.

Yes, the flip probably didn't deserve an "e", but still it was not a clean inside edge, so a ! should have been there anyway...

None of the Finn girls came close to getting the SS score that Julia got and their SS were much better.
Basically anyone with eyes can see that Julia don't deserve anything more than 6 for her SS. This "sport" needs a major overhaul. The judges need to be retrained or fired.

So angry.

4 judges gave +2 to Jullia's so much low 2A :laugh2: it's so funny

It's not funny at all. Go and check the bullets for GoE's. Jumps are not about height only.

Probably. So you mean should've been an ! for both.
Anyway, I think she has to be more careful not losing levels on the spin and steps, at least.

I'm still not sold on the Russian girls, though I think Yulia had my favorite skate today, if only because it was so lovely to see her go out there with some fire and smiling after the season she's had, but I love Elena's energy. I want to like Liza, but I can't get behind all of those overwrought arm and hand movements--and I think the billowy costume just makes her arms look shorter and that takes away from any elegance that they might have.

I'm hoping Ashley can get it together and at least put out a great performance in the free.

Tech caller is cranky. Medvedeva's flip! and lutz no-call was also very questionable. It just seems like this tech caller hates lippers.

There was one judge who only gave -2 to Pogo's and Radionova's falls. One gave 0 GOE for Liza's stepped-out lutz. Pogo had no preceding steps on her 3Lz because it was planned to be a combo, but only got -1 from 5 judges. Isn't that supposed to be -3?

What on earth is with the GOEs here?

I actually agree with the edge call on Yulia's flip. I rarely notice lips, but that one looked obvious to me in real-time. I couldn't see her lutz because the camera panned out so far on the combo. She still had the most enjoyable SP out of all the ladies for me, though.

I don't get Liza's skating. Yes she has nice jumps but average speed minimal ice coverage and poor spins and she still gets over 67 points? And it's not like she's particularly elegant either.

Everyone has a chance for the overall victory. Delighted for Liza, she really has bounced back this year, I love the way she gives 100%. I was expecting a real big score from J Lip, the Chris on BESP questioned her flip but on the replay said it was ok, she certainly looked disappointed. Rad is some performer, even though she fell she did not give up but I did think all the jumps were shaky and the spins a bit slow, not her best performance.

I like Anna's skate, the SP improves with ever performance she gives. Looking forward to the free.

If you want elegance, Pogo is the only one who has it.
