The Shibs's program is not bad. A waltz is an excellent choice for them stylistically. What seems to be the problem is Zoueva needs to get herself better tech coaches. I think it's been pretty clear since the Igor/Marina meltdown that Igor gave the teams technical proficiency, and Marina provided the polishing. The Shibs lost on LEVELS. That's very telling. Three level 2s for components. That SHOULD be a wakeup call to team Zoueva that they are in desperate need of better tech coaching.

Could not agree more.

and Weak Ankles, can I just take this opportunity to tell you that your name makes me laugh every time?! I have really weak ankles too. :)

If there are different winners for the remaining events. Let's say:

RUS: Bukin/Stepnova
FRA: Cappellini/Lanotte
JPN: Coomes/Buckland

Than the Shibs would be out because each of the winners would have a first place and/or second/or third which would beat two silvers.

But that is an unlikely scenario, since Weaver/Poje look good to win NHK.

And well, it's not like Chock/Bates will choke in Russia.

Yes this -- though I think they also made some silly errors -- they seem to know it when they were finished. They were not surprised at their score.

Some teams do super awesome and then suddenly get the reality check. They knew they lost the levels -- which tells me that they are capable of completing the levels. They just have to get the job done when they are nervous or whatever.

LOL. The first time I tried to go skating, as soon as I took a step--a STEP mind you--in skates, I fell and twisted my ankle. I'm sure I was a really mean gold medalist skater in a previous lifetime, and karma is a BEEYUTCH! lol!

I could NEVER ice skate. Even though I was a good roller skater. Made me sad. Will never try again because I know I will end up with twisted ankles!

:)

Well, we'll just have to sit in the stands and make snarky comments about everyone's music, choreography, and costumes. That'll show them! :)

P/C GOE and PCS
I/Z steps and speed
Zoueva's teams :ohwell:

Anyway, congrats to the winners and their fans. And congrats I/Z and their fans with 4th place debut

I'm convinced that P/C won the FD and won overall but I felt like the Shibutani's were dumped AGAIN!!! The margin should not had been so large.

In saying that....Papadakis and Cizeron are the dream team. They will go the Grand Prix Final for sure. Such purity in their skating :)

Actually I disagree and I am a fan. You can tell from their faces they knew they missed the requirements on some of those levels. That was less the case at Skate America.

They only needed to get an extra level on two of those elements to get the win. They really left a lot of points on the table.

They seem really nervous today. I think they were not used to being in front.

That was absolutely lovely from I/Z. They are a team on the rise. They should have gotten bronze. Shame on you judges!!!
