2014 Cup of China Free Dance 11/08

what a free dance event this is!
:laugh::popcorn:

now I'm dreading my Rostelecom Cup predictions :bang:

This is a lovely program from the Shibs.... but I can't help wishing that I could see them dance a program they seem passionate about rather than respectful.

Glad that P/C won based on their performances. A little sad for the Shibs because I wanted them for gold, but 2nd place was right for them.

Ziggy would be so happy:cry:

LOL. Ziggy and I raved about P/C last year. He might be disappointed though that they didn't get those scores with the Woodkid program, which the judges just so unfairly pooped on. But yes, I think he would be very happy.

P and C and C and L are up against each other again at Trophy Eric Bompard in a few weeks.

I think the Shibs will make the final with two silvers, especially given that of the other medalists here, only one can get a gold at the future events.

Absolutely delighted for them!!!

But I'm dreading seeing my Predictions Game scores! :disapp:

CaroLiza_fan

thanks to Shibs second place, I only have to swap C/L with P/C so it's not that bad.

I waited a whole life to see a so unpredictable season in ice dance! I'm excited!

WOAH!!! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!!!!

[mind blown]

Congratulations to Papadakis / Cizeron, did ANYONE pick them for gold??

More congratulations to the Shibs on placing second again, two silvers could get them to the GPF!

Hoping Anna and Luca fare well at TEB, where they'll face P/C again.

And good luck to Lena & Ruslan next week at COR, looking forward to seeing them again.

Also, my ice dance predictions completely went into the toilet for COC.

Still, in 20+ years of watching ice dance, this goes down with 2014 W, 1994 OG and 2010 OG as the most unpredictable tournament I've ever seen (I had D/S over V/M and D/W for 2010 OGM and have since learned the errors of my ways). Since ice dance is often accused as being the discipline where the "fix" is in, this is refreshing to see.

What an unpredictable event in ice dance. It's probably the rare time that I've seen most of people happy with the judging. The French couples are amazing. The Shibs' program lacks some oomph and they were not techincally perfect either. I feel like watching a New Year prom. It's not C/L's fault, but they must feel bad for getting the bronze with such a slow, uninspired and uncertain dance.

Wow! I love unexpected results in skating. Especially in ice dance. Well, the French were really the only ones who had that something little extra today. I remember noticing them last season thinking that they had a certain star quality.

LOL. Ziggy and I raved about P/C last year. He might be disappointed though that they didn't get those scores with the Woodkid program, which the judges just so unfairly pooped on. But yes, I think he would be very happy.

I recall the same sort of stary was with Tessa's and Scott's Pink Floyd Great Gig in The Sky in 2008/2009 season - so undermarked and unappreciated from judges - same was last season with Woodkid FD from Frenchies. Now, after all the rough times let's hope they'll be scored right

P and C and C and L are up against each other again at Trophy Eric Bompard in a few weeks.

I think the Shibs will make the final with two silvers, especially given that of the other medalists here, only one can get a gold at the future events.

If there are different winners for the remaining events. Let's say:

RUS: Bukin/Stepnova
FRA: Cappellini/Lanotte
JPN: Coomes/Buckland

Than the Shibs would be out because each of the winners would have a first place and/or second/or third which would beat two silvers.

But that is an unlikely scenario, since Weaver/Poje look good to win NHK.

Not to be shallow but I never noticed Guillaume in tights before and let's just say that I had to turn down the heat in my house while watching their FD as a result. [blush]

Huh, looking at the protocols, the Shibs actually lost on the Level 2 spin and the Level 2 rotational lift. Very odd.
