He had 5 falls, but still managed to do few big things, and he score about 150 score for FS. IT is 43 points down on his clean LP from last season. And you say that he was not penalized enough, because other skater couldn't score that with "better for you" skate and elements, really ? Kovtun got 83 PCS, and Yuzuru 84, and what judges could have done ? How you want to put his PCS down when his SS and overall program even when he was not fully fit was still better than Kovtun's program ?

But his performance/execution was just awful. I know he had injuries and was involved in an awful incident and that explains why he was such a disaster.

Can we all just accept that Hanyu was overscored on PCS and MOVE ON. Considering what happened, I can't believe what people care about.

Please don't do that. In some countries, they use 220 volts, which could invoke serious injuries.

I just hope Yuzu and Yan are ok, and nothing serious happened, and next time Yuzuru will skate perfectly so he will allow to give some of you another reasons to complain how overscored again he was. Thanks . I am out of this topic

A coach like Brian would never force a student to compete after a collision. He's too experienced to do something like that.

To moderators: I am sorry for cursing out Orser's actions. I knew I would probably get a warning, but in the heat of the moment I thought it was the right thing to do. And I was wrong. I am sorry, again.

But this quotation sums up everything I meant in that post. It is just a GPF. He isn't competing for Russia where appearances count for everything. Hanyu is the OGM in Japan. He doesn't need to prove anything. He could've withdrawed and gone out a skater that the judges deservedly liked. Now he's the skater that judges overscored. It sucks, because I know it isn't his fault, but at NHK I probably won't help but think he will be overscored no matter how he skates.

The whole judging thing was unfair to Nam who skated a clean program....what message is this sending to young skaters?

He and Han Yan collided during the warmup. They looked unconcious (but we are not sure.) for a while, then both of them skated. Both of LP did not go well. Lots of heated discussions have been going on since then such as

- Who has the ultimate responsibility on deciding if the skater can compete or not on such situations.
- Yuzuru still managed to get a medal despite 5 falls. If the current judging system is adequate or not.

I think this is not a good time to discuss is the judging system is any good or not and the responsibility of withdrawing. No. It's not. Especially since this accident happened, which I don't think was a pretty sight.

I hope both skaters recover fast. :'(

Well, I just catched up with the skate (and the scores). IMO this was irresponsible from the coaches of Han Yan and Yuzuru Hanyu. Nowadays one knows what can happen if you sustain a concussion (even minor and foremost serious). Some damages will show probably years later. The skaters aren't fit enough in this particular moment to make a desicion to skate (spins: not good for your brain at all when you have bumped your head; falls: not good either).

I can understand, that they wanted to skate. But this should never have happened. There should be some safeguards to protect the skaters from themselves and/or their coaches.

I really like Han Yan and Yuzuru Hanyu. I don't want them to be harmed. I hope they won't sustain any longterm damages.

Kovtun didn't have 5 falls.

But he still won. The placement in the end was the right one. The handwringing is rather pointless.

I hope for the full and fast recovery of the injured, I congratulate Kovtun on his win, and Dornbush on his Bronze.
I've really enjoyed Dornbush's LP this season so I hope to see it improve as time goes on.

Today's collision and what happened next reminded me of the terrible fall of Zhang/Zhang in Turin Olympics, how they overcame it and were awarded silver. People said that it was a lot of supporting their courage in that decision. I guess, the same holds for Yuzuru tonight.

In fact the only skating that I could connect to today was from Misha Ge. I wish he had a quad and judges gave him at least 80 pcs - he deserves them.

Exactly,if he had 74 no one would have commented.The judges aren't doing him any favours they're just ruining his reputation,just like how they did with Chan
He won silver thanks to his TES it's not his fault the sistem doesn't penalise falls more,and he rotated everything

Oh, you have no idea! I can't really recommend watching the men at all...wish I could turn back time and forget it ever happened, to be honest. When the winner and his coaches look shell-shocked at his score in the kiss'n'cry, you can be sure it wasn't good.

The singles competition for COC was....awful.

I'm happy for Elizaveta though -she deserved her win. Maxim too...although I don't think he could be happy with his performance.
