2014 Nebelhorn Trophy

These high scores by the Russian ladies leads me to believe that Julia and Elena will score around 75 when they compete.

whoaaa Go Broklee!! Love that new short, fantastic music that suits her well, she is so expressive and wonderful to watch! Georgeous movements and her spins are amazing!

Yes, I remember her SP at Worlds-2012, it was much better than now.

But you also have to consider that they didn't have the halfway bonus back then. It looked like Alena did her flip and axel after the halfway mark. So that likely garnered a few extra points.

The same applies to Liza.

A nice start to the ladies event! I really like this music and program for Mariah. I just feel like it suits her energy and style so well. Her flip looked a little close to me but I think it was clean.

I agree with that. I have seen each of her practice sessions and she is just made for that music. Her whole attitude is incredible charming, this might be a bit over the top now but she kind of reminds me of Sasha the first few years. She always smiled at you and was such a happy fellow off ice - Mariah is the same.

Liza, love her I wish her the best. Not a bad start. I think I hate the dress more than anything else. Plus after Kostner's Bolero I am not ready for another one.

I actually love that dress, its so elegant and as a 17 years old she really rocks it. Personally the first two jump elements she did better in the practice. Personally I wouldn't put her behind Aleona based on PCs - with Liza it all seems to natural while Aleona, she is a role at all times and if the music goes off she stops acting suddenly.

As for Julia, you can see that she is now skating with a lot less pressure on her shoulders. Also in the practice and if you see her wandering around she just looks so much more confident this season than last. To be forced to win an Olympic spot for another skater was really unfair to her and I am glad that this is now finally over and she can actually enjoy her time on the ice again.

Aimee showed an amazing flexibility and she really skates for the crowd I love that a lot actually. She always has her eyes in the crowd and that wonderful.

I need to ask Liza later about the nationals hopefully I wont forget that, curious what she has to say.

I also want to point out that you guys watch closely to the Belarusian she has a nice program as well, cheer for them all guys not just Gracie ;)

Halfway bonus is less than 1 point, 0.86 for 3F and 2A, 0.93 for 3Lz and 2A.
Alena has 2.11 higher than her PB, Lisa 2.90 higher.

And I remember skating when they had PB at SP, for both Ladies it was significantly better than now.

Inflation.
At past season too.

Well yes there is some inflation at play, but I do think is a much better structured program than the one from 2012.

karne fails at time zone conversions and missed Brooklee and Liza. Pooey.

Elizaveta and Alena were great. I love their new programs. They put so much energy into their performances. The Russians have so many good ladies; it's a pity only 3 can go to the World Championships.

Gracie bombed as usual, but she got a very generous score and was held up by the judges. She has always been a poor competitor and her jumps have just tanked since she started training with Carroll. The lutz she fell on looked UR and the loop and axel weren't good quality either.

Why can Gracie get a new short? I really hate it when skaters reuse old programs and she has all of the resources in the world.

She did about what was expected. She never shines until later in the season.

My only concern with her is that she usually looks fitter at this stage in the game.

Actually I didn't think Gracie's performance was a bomb. Aside from the fall, she did everything else, including probably the best spins in the field.

No it wasn't her best, but there's a lot in between "best" and "meltdown."

Her personal best TES is 38+. She got 31 here, so that sounds about right. Her PCS is below her PB. So I said give or take 2 points she was scored what was expected.

Sigh... They keep saying that it is from the Anna Karenina soundtrack, when in fact it was the trailer music, and is Nero by Two Steps From Hell... Oh, well, at least ttey are using it, I suppose? :)

I guess, it's just that Gracie's SP does not 'wow' me... so when there is a fall, the rest of the program seems lackluster. But she moves well.

I agree, especially since her program is boring. Or maybe it's just her lack of performance quality. She really has zero projection and connection with the audience.

Polina should have no problem passing her as the top American girl. Gracie's jumps have tanked since she started training with Carroll. Not only does she still not have consistency, but she no longer has quality. Her jumps are so small, with such hard landings - and that axel

I don't particularly love the program even when she did it perfectly at nationals. However, I just wanted to point out there's a spectrum between total bombing/meltdown and personal best. I think on the whole, aside from the fall, she did fine, and her scored reflected the mistakes but also what she did well.

Yay, I just watched Liza and Brooklee!

   Liza is the Queen, and the Queen is well on her way to regaining her throne! Her jumps were beautiful - she has so much power and control that even the turn out on the end of the combo she made it look deliberate. And that 'tano 2A! And the fierce fast step sequence! :yay:

And Brooklee! What can I say? Her skating sends me to my happy place. And that layback! I would argue that she has the best layback of any lady in the world!
