2014 NHK Trophy Ladies Short Program 11/28

The Technical Specialist for the Ladies is Olga Baranova, who was also the TS for the ladies at Cup of Russia. I looked up the FS protocol and saw that she gave lots of URs but not many edge calls. That is good for Polina and Gracie, but not so good for Satoko and Kanako.

I wonder if this is why the Japanese ladies are called so many URs.

IMO both Kanako and Leonova were underscored in the pcs department... those two where two very good programs:dance:

They seem to be a bit stingy this competition, but its been consistent, so I'm not complaining.

I agree with the placements, to some extent. Though I'd have Alena with a sizable PCS lead, while Gracie has a strong TES lead.

Cup of China and Rostelecom Cup had ladies struggle in the SP while the podium standings for Trophee Eric Bompard were obvious. But here, we finally see an exciting SP and now any of the top 4 could win it for sure. Can't wait for tomorrow.

That's my point: I find those scores bizarre. Gracie had more difficult tech content, and greater quality on both spins and jumps. However, Alena had a much better program, and she stayed in character throughout. The overall result is fine... but I don't understand how they arrived there.

I still want to see Gracie do something with more aggressive music instead of this boring piano music which is way to slow for someone of her power and speed. I just feel like she's held back by such conservative music.

Wow from what everyone is saying, the guest commentator for Brit Eurosport this week isn't very good.
