2025 NHK Trophy Women's Short Program

Just starting to catch up! Thank you to everyone for PBP!

Kaori richly deserved the win here - but not with +GOE on a SEVERELY wrong edge on her Lutzes. The judges keep ignoring her Flutzes, literally gifting her nearly 10 points on her flawed Lutz jumps through the span of both of her programs at every competition, while they hit other skaters with ! calls on THEIR Lutzes, or worse. It's unfair and it really annoys me. Apart from that flaw, fantastic SP skate by Kaori at her final NHK GP!

Oh dear, did Sarah mouth a certain F bomb after her flawed SP skate?! 👀

ETA - OK, I missed it. What is the meaning of this cactus thing that keeps popping up? 🌵🌵🌵 🤔

Kaori absolutely deserves respect for the champion caliber skater she is, but I do hope all of the technical calls for all the skaters’ jumps are fair at the Olympics. Unlike the men’s discipline where there is a clear favorite and then a large gap among everyone else, the women’s discipline could prove to be a close race at the Olympics and the gold medal could come down to an edge call, an UR call, or a quarter call, etc., on a jump.

Absolutely. This is a real concern. It's been so close in recent podiums that the difference between one color medal or another, or even an off the podium finish has often been by a couple of points or even less than a half a point!
