The Lutz was clearly within the quarter (so, rotated). I wonder if Skating91 will complain about the rotation on this one.

Her 3T is still very borderline. Lutz edge problems. She is barely rotating these jumps. She will need to be absolutely perfect which she hasn't been in a while to take the 230s that she is theoretically capable of.

I don't think Kaori is gonna lose her sleep if she won't amass 230 points at NHK Trophy. She won't need close to that to win this GP and it would take a very messy skate full of pops for her to drop out of 1st place after the short.

I don't remember Samodelkina trying 4Lo in competition as per commentating. Glad to see she is happy with the score, though I am a bit sad she didn't complete enough steps for higher level steps.

Wow, you guys are right, Higuchi's costuming is on point this season. I also like her choice of music. The jumping passes though, not so much. I guess, it's Nakai and Chiba for Olympic team unless she has a strong comeback.

I don't think it was her new program, though it was more docile than she normally does. Just errors like basically everyone else. It wasn't a great SP by women despite really strong comp.

That's not a great year for Everhardt to struggle. She opened with two really big passes. I would root for her to have a better free, but I dunno. That's not good.

Everything worked for Sakomoto this time, even the music that's not typical for her. She sould win this event by a landslide if the other women don't regroup by tomorrow.

The problem for Higuchi is that her jump problems are injury related and her next competition is in a week.

Given all the mistakes she made, only a 3+2 combo, 2A landed on the quarter and low GOE, and a UR 3F with a fall, she actually was judged very generously. Most other skaters with a lesser reputation would not be in the final group for the FS after such a subpar skate.
