Julia for sure has some qualities better than Polina, and vice versa, but over all both are in the same league.

Edmunds got a bonus in PCS for being #2 in US nationals. There is no way her PCS marks should be that close to Osmond. Yes she should be in first but she sould have been a couple points lower in PCS. Guess the US knew what they were doign when they placed her 2nd at nationals. It has worked in the past and still works. When you place a lower ranked skater above a top international skater (Ashley) at Nationals the lower ranked skater all of a sudden it taken more seriously.

Indeed. Polina's telegraphing was the thing that bothered me most in her performance. She doesn't have that seamless flow into the jumps as Julia or Kartlyn - yet, maybe. Probably she'll learn it.
