Is it smarter for a skater to finish their last spin(assuming that is the final element in their program, as is usually the case) but go over the music and get a -1 deduction? Or do they receive the deduction and possibly have their element invalidated? :think:

Finish the spin, always. The -1 can be counteracted a little if you get level 4 and +GOEs on the spin. If you elect to finish it early, you're potentially leaving a lot more than -1 on the table.
