2014 Worlds Men Short Program

Whatever, Kovtun won the spot with his consistent performances through the season and then winning Nationals. Using Euros to decide who should get the Olympic spot wasn't for Voronov anyway, it was for the Russian Fed to give themselves every chance to dump Kovtun (and/or Voronov) in favor of their Hobbled Golden Boy.

Kovtun was also behind menshov too. This was the first time he ever did well at a euros or worlds in a sp. plushenko was much stronger and he earned it.

Jeez, I'm rooting for Kovtun to get 2 spots back, so hopefully everybody will bury the hatchet, we'll move on from feuds, Pharaoh's curses and all that stuff. And maybe - maybe Kostya Menshov will get a trip to Worlds.

No, bad taste comentary is not necesarrly. Never. So much hate is neither necessarly.

Kovtun took a year ago also the place for soemone else, if you have forgotten.
The places are given from federation by their own necesitties and the withdraw from the single competition was because injury (if you have missed that!). So, hate against Plushenko is really bade taste in the context.

Do you know what skating fans? Your hate begin to be so annoying. I am coming here to have joy, to enjoy the skating, to discuss. Not to diss, not to be rude, not to read such stupidity written about these hard working people.
If is something putting me off from figure skating, are you so called fans.

So one wrong turn deserves another? That's pretty awful logic. We've tried that (giving spots to people who deserved them the year before), by the way, lately in America. It doesn't work. By all means, you can block me, but this is how I feel.

That's great, they work hard, they all do, but when you don't perform when it matters, you deserve the criticism.

You are right!

I like the junior guy. What's his name?

Fwiw, Kovtun got 41+ at Euros. So while a bit high, hardly a huge inflation compared to the rest of the season.

That said, his pcs is too high. :p

Do you know what? If you express it decently, i would have nothing against your point of view. But this hate, this glee, this one is unaceptable. I know you would have been happy if Plushenko would have injured himslef beyond repair, but yoiho, he would have competed, isn't it? Because is just sound like that! To say that someone should have competed when it counted when injured, is just sick!

Take your own hate away from here, if you enjoy Kovtun, great, enjoy, shows it here, but calling Plushenko how you called, is BAD TASTE!

Uh, Plushy didn't go to Euros after being told that it was the final qualifier, and yet they still gave him the spot. Yeah, Plushenko looked really strong in the Individual ev- oh wait, he dropped out, because he put his foot in his mouth and told everyone their plan to sub him out, claiming an injury.

Sorry, I feel NO sympathy for Plushenko. He had his time, and when he didn't get his way, he's was arrogant and flippant. (Also, he would never have the record he does had Yagudin been able to stay healthy. Yagudin is the real King of the Russian men.)

Yes. And Kovtun deserves criticism because the last time he "performed when it mattered" was the JGPF in 2012 - when his main opponent was on enough antihistamine to knock a grown man out cold.

It is Kovtun's own fault that there is only one spot this year anyway. Plushenko was magnificent in Sochi. Unfortunately, the ask was too great. But if you want to blame someone, blame the RFSF, because Plushy told them to call Kovtun, and they lied to his face and told him they couldn't find him.

I am happy for Kozuka, although I agree with British commentators who said it was not his best.
