2015-16 Russian Test skates

 :cheer:

In HD you can see her face better; while in some parts facially she looks very introverted/concentrating, she's being much more expressive in her body language and had good facial expressions in parts of her step sequence.

I also think, maybe for the first time, she actually looked like she was genuinely having FUN out there for parts of the program, which was so nice to see. She's been one of my favorites for several years now, before she was even really on most people's radar, and this whole time, the only thing that really bothered me about her was that she never seemed to take much genuine joy in skating (which, as it's her job, I suppose is understandable), but I feel like I see some now.

Leonova is keeping her SP from last season, isn't she? Maybe she didn't even go to SP test skate? (just guessing, but seems reasonable to me)

No, she'd still go... I think more likely people frankly don't care as much about her and put up their favorites first. The person who is going in order still hasn't gotten to where she'd be yet though I don't think, so there is hope.

What's with all of the orange shirts in the crowd. They're especially visible in the one corner.

Where is Snow63???????

Missed me, honey?

Anyway, I finally watched all the programms and dances.

My absolutely favourite was Bobrova/Soloviev SD, I think they skated it with power and maturity, which Masqurade waltz requres. I was really impressed, new lift looks very cool, and overall they delievered, IMO. Very nice choreo and transitions, I'm very happy, honestly. And Katia looks fit now, thank God :)
My second favourite were Yanovskaya/Mozgov, who I believe will probably be in top 3 on russian nationals next year at worst. Very beautiful dance, with almost non-stop transitions. They didn't go full force and full speed because of Anna latest minor injury, obviously, but I'm glad they didn't miss test skates at all.
I'm sorry, but I/Z dance doesn't work for me, especially that last 'We will rock you' step sequence, it was a hot mess. I'm not going to say anything else. Maybe it'll grow on melater, I hope so. But I think they will get pretty good PCS for this dance, it's certainly was entertaining.

And russian girls were AWESOME. I liked almost everything. Yulia absolutely sold her programm to me. I'm ready for the Great Comeback. :cheer:

That's what I'm thinking as well. They've only uploaded two ladies (Liza & Anna), so I expect there is more to come.

I think my favorite is Julia but I liked Liza and Pogo (please Anna do something about those jumps!) as well. I wish I could see them at GPF, although it's going to be a tall order for Pogo.

I enjoyed Sergei Voronov personally I'l never be out-Mused and the choreography seems to be good for him. Menshov is looking good too, that program's still good.

Crikey. I leave the computer off for a few hours and come back to this lottery win of goodies! Can't wait to watch em all!

Agree on all points (except I don't care for Muse, but the song is tolerable). Liza is definitely channeling Plushy here, not that there's anything wrong with that. Adian is definitely going to be one to watch out for this season, too.

New Radionova's SP link in the compilations with a video that's less shaky and is at ice level. Talk about emoting to the MAX  She was seriously working hard

I love I/Z's short dance the more I see it. It is exciting, entertaining and as long as they get the levels they should be absolutely fine!

I've seen all the HD videos uploaded so far. There are lots of good performances, especially from ladies and pairs  Competition will be much more exciting this season and Team Russia will be stronger than last year.

I didn't see any disaster programs from russian dancers which is a nice suprise for me. Still I don't want to talk early we have to see free dances.

Bobrova/Soloviev looked good. They are moving effortlessly on ice, looks natural. Their twizzles are problem and I didn't like second part of the dance, it feels too dark for me. She still bends sometimes. But they skated better than I expected.

Ilinykh/Zhiganshin also looked good. They skated much more harder and closer short dance this year. March sequence needs a lot of work, they are not effortless in holds as B/S yet. I wish We Will Rock You part is longer. But overall they were better than I expected. Still I hope change of twizzles. Change of edge is not smooth and they will lose GOE for that. Look at Monko/Khaliavin's new twizzles for example. Please put steps between sets and change into catch foot twizzles Kustarova! You have good twizzlers on you hands!

Stepanova/Bukin I don't know. When I see their entrance to waltz I thought they become little bit faster than last year. You know usually even when they are doing crossovers they didn't gain speed (Their skating skills that bad) I thought it become better but they were slowing down after RW entrance and they become their usual themselfs. Slow, without flow. Lift needs a lot of work.

Monko/Khaliavin I need to watch with music. I just noticed their lift doesn't have exit feature and I don't know If their twist entry to their lift will count as difficult. I liked their twizzles. Good change.

Yanovkaia/Mozgov looked slow and how can I say tentative? But they looked promising. Some nice moments and transitions but the need to change lift. It is not attractive.

My impressions. Tried to rank programs from faves to least faves.

Ladies:
Zhenya- I don't think anyone else has said this, but this might be my favorite of the program. I really love her. I expect her to shock some people with her results this season.
Adelina- I am gradually becoming an Adelina fan. I love this program for her. It will be a shame if she cannot accomplish much in jumps/spins now that she has more polish and maturity. I'm rooting for her.
Liza- obviously this is the perfect music for her! I feel she is really trying to add more complexity to her programs. Good for her.
Elena: I am her superfan, but I feel really unsure about this music/choreography for her... Hoping Titantic is better.
Julia- I don't quite get this program as much as others have. It's OK and I think it can be a fine vehicle for her. But the faster stepwork part did not do it for me. I liked the first part better.
Anna- seems like usual Anna stuff, but it works for her. I really think this girl could use either a coaching change or some real polishing with an outside choreographer or something.

It's crazy to think how great these ladies are, plus Sotskova and Sakhanovich (and I guess Proklova too, though her status is unclear) are also eligible for Euros/Worlds now... !!

Men:
Voronov- let's be honest, he's the only Russian guy I'm a big fan of. and he could go on ice wearing a big chicken costume and I would buy what he is selling. That said, this is a great improvement on last season. love it!!

Dance:
Yanovskaya/Mozgov- DANG! I will make a prediction: they'll be Russian champions this year.
Ilinykh/Zhiganshin- I will admit, I don't like the program as much as Y/M's. Which doesn't mean it isn't good. I wish to see more closer skating from them, basically. But I think it will go over well with audiences.
The rest of the dances were meh to me.

Pairs:
Tarasova/Morozov- This honestly may be my favorite of the programs. Who did this choreography? What a change from their hokey stuff from last year! Also smart to do Celtic for Boston. I am liking them best so far.
Astakhova/Rogonov- J'adore these two!! They have spunk. He even falls to the beat. LOL :) :)
Kavaguti/Smirnov- I should not like this at all - the music is so schmaltzy. But they are making it work somehow.
Volosozhar/Trankov- it's fun. it's fine. but not blowing my mind yet. still shaking a little dust off I think.
Stolbova/Klimov- again, fine, and fits her personality I think. But not blowing my mind especially considering their much discussed time off to add new elements.
Bazarova/Deputat- also fine. there's something... I don't know, too deadly serious to it for my taste or something.

What do you mean, dark? And I agree about their waltz, very natural feeling.

Anna was injured yesterday, she fell. She also have stitches on her chin, I think they probably held down a bit here. But so true about very promising team, their potential is amazing.
