2015-16 State of Russian Ladies skating

After seeing Morozov at Europeans, I think he might just be an affectionate person. The way he grabbed Florent after his free program I would have sworn THEY were dating. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwqvyb3dmzE

Yeah, I get that Morozov has a bad rep with the ladies (and for good reason!) - the rumored relationships he had with Miki and Elena I were completely inappropriate. However, he seems to be a good choreographer and probably a good coach for some people. I loved the Swan Lake Hip Hop routine he did for Daisuke Takahashi. It remains one of my favorite programs ever.

Morozov seems to be a very good choreographer indeed, much more creativity and uniqueness than Lori. Anna's programs this year are quite dynamic and full of passion, which might speak for his personality. Not sure how many programs he did for Amodio, but I always liked his program, just didn't know Norozov is his primary choreographer.

I am kind of glad Liza is not going to Worlds, though I would love to see her. I think Anna deserves to go, and Liza would probably be better off preparing for next season. Although I guess she is actually preparing for the World Team Competition? I think Mishin knows what he is doing.

Yeah, I hope TCC can be a fun, low-pressure event for her - a good way to end the season, and something to take with her going into the next one. Hopefully it will help to rekindle her fire & drive.

I think Anna will likely compete at the Russian Cup final along with Julia and the decision will come down to those two. I suppose Sakhanovich, Pervushkina, and Sotskova are eligible for Worlds too, but Sotskova is doing YOG and JW so a third major event may be too much and Sakhanovich and Pervushkina didn't skate very well at Junior Nationals (scoring much lower than Anna at Europeans) so the Fed may not want to risk it on one of them.

I'd say Anna has an advantage heading into the Cup Final over Julia but if Julia continues to show improvement and skates very well then I could definitely see her getting named to Worlds. But so far this season, Anna has been better than Julia, even with her being inconsistent, but Julia also hasn't competed very much so you never know. I'll be happy if either one of them is sent.

For me, only Liza should be under consideration for Anna's spot (although it sounds like she isn't). Julia and Adelina haven't skated well the last two years so I don't think it would make sense to send either one of them instead of Anna.

I think noone should be under consideration for Anna's spot.
Basically, Anna got it by performing when it mattered. And if fed starts dropping the skaters every time they have a not perfect skate, that will just not motivate anyone.

Russian nationals is not regarded the same way US nationals is. The selection for worlds and such has always been based on the season as a whole, skate offs and other factors, never just nationals so this isn't anything new. Outside of nationals Anna is just as "not perfect" as the other girls this season. So you can't claim "performing when it mattered" because according to the Russians every competition in the season matters when it comes to making a decision.

Performed when mattered = all season. While Anna was not as consistent as Evgenia, for example, she still did better than Tukt and Yulia.

I wonder if Liza got the call she was to go to world's in Boston if she would actually go? I think it says a lot about the state of skating when some feel you can freely toss aside the European bronze medallist. Not to mention keep at home the current world champion, the current Olympic champion and two former world silver medallists.

Russia could field 3 different world-class ladies teams.

So does Euros not matter anymore? Cause she didn't perform well then. Whether its Anna or Yulia that goes to Worlds, I think its between those to since Mishin is saying Liza is not going, they are both 'wild cards' as far as how will they skate. So it's fair to me if the Fed says whoever does best at the Russian Cup Final goes or if Yulia is promising, to send her to Worlds. It's not like they are in danger of losing their 3rd spot.

Anna is the star of Tsareva's group, she gets unrivaled attention from her coach in the same way that Sotskova does in Panova's group. All things considered, I don't think there are better coaching options for Anna.

I think it would be fair to see everyone who wants fight it out at the RCF.

I do think it will be a huge bonus for WC attendance if Yulia goes. She can bring in the people (not that its any our fed's concern:laugh:).
+ it can boost up her confidence to take part in the main comp of the year.

Not everybody is a fan of hers :noshake: I'd rather see Pogo. Beside WC is almost 100% sold out :handw:

Sugarpova didn't say that everybody is a fan of Yulia..she only says that Yulia can bring in people that doesn't mean all of them..i can understand you're not a fan of her everyone has his/her preference but you dont have to be mean..your last emoticon is kinda offensive..😏😏

haha, i wasn't being mean at all, sorry you fell that way :) And I know what Sugarpova meant and my point still stands. POGO FOR WORLDS

Pogo has lots of fans I dont deny that but I dont think she's any close to Yulia in popularity:slink:

I'm not a fan of Pogo actually  But if I had to pick one, it would be her over Julia.

Now wouldn't it be funny if Leonova won the finals? People would die  LEONOVA FOR WORLDS :gclap:

Yes, I got my tickets on Dec 4 and it was pretty slim pickings...and I paid $370 for second tier seats. The all event passes sold incredibly well so that when individual tickets went on sale ladies was nearly gone. Dance still has decent seats, but my Men's final and Pairs final seats are GOOD! I'm spoiled by having front row at us nationals in Greensboro by some fluke!

Julia's Schindler's list endeared her to the world. I'd love to see her back at worlds! But, not a fan of this year's programs.
