2015 Japan Open

Also Mao slowly improved her PCS over the last 4 years. If she had skated the SP clean at the Olympic, she would've been in the final group with similar PCS scores as Caro and Yuna's.

I don't think Mao was held down because of skating order at Sochi. I think there were other reasons. But, if holding down skaters is done purposely, I think of the score as irrelevant, and I might as well calculate them myself. Now back to the Japan Open, I am glad that Mao skated so well.

This is an example of what I am talking about.

Results from WC2013, ranked 9th below Liza, where her PCS is 60, 3 points higher than Liza, while TES 7 points less than Liza.

Pre Sochi inflation at European championship 2013, massive 9 points hike to her previous best PCS, 1.6 PCS higher, 9.72 TES lower than Julia.

At best I'd give Adelina around 62 for improving expressions from 2 years ago if the marks are given organically rather than post Sochi effect. With big mistakes in TES, she should drop to about 60 max (her previous best). Liza's PCS I'd mark around 63 max, or 61 with mistakes since her TES has always been higher. With a great program, it can go up to 65, 66.

I'm not going to get in this debate. You know very well she skated horribly at those events. And that she was really great in the Olympics. And that PCS, for all skaters, can dramatically vary with hype. Simple at that.

Meanwhile, I am so happy for Mao!!!!

I just checked the 3f-3lo and 3lutz she did at official practice today in slow-mo, and her 3-3 was most definitely rotated, and she held onto an outside edge on her lutz!!! :cheer:

When it comes to a combination of difficult jumps and great presentation, Mao is clearly the best!

So does it mean that Ashley should have got 58-59 at best? Gracie - 60-61 at best?
