Sorry to disappoint the Aussie fans out there, but unfortunately Kailani Craine did not hold onto her lead. She was pipped to the post by Latvia's Angelina KUCHVALSKA.

But, for Sarah Hecken fans, she did indeed overtake Makeenka to claim 5th place.

Incidentally, 3rd and 4th stayed the same. Dasa Grm finished 3rd, 10 points behind Craine, and Kerstin Frank finished 4th, 8 behind Grm, and 10 ahead of Hecken.

Senior Dance Group 1 warm-up is now on

The schedule for the skaters is crazy, especially for junior and senior ladies. They performed SP from around 7pm and then FS started at 7am next day. :jaw:
Except 6 min. for warming up, there were virtually no time for practice.

Silver is a tremendous achievement for Kraine's first senior international. Not a disappointment at all.

I do actually agree with you on that one. :agree: Kailani did very well to beat ALL of the more established names that we normally see at Europeans.

Like, I had never heard tell of her until yesterday! So, she is very quickly making a name for herself.

But, you know what the Aussies are like. They are always wanting to win! ;)

For me, the big disappointment was Ukolova. To go from being 4th in Four Nationals only a few weeks ago, to 2 disasterous skates and 8th out of 9 at this event. And for her total score to be 14 points lower than it was at 4 Nationals. I would say it is a good job she isn't going to Europeans, as this will have badly knocked her confidence.

Elizaveta, you just have to put this behind you, and re-build for whenever your next competition is.

Brilliant skate from the Polish Dance team, Natalia KALISZEK / Maksym SPODYRIEV! :points:

They are a full 20 points ahead of everybody else that has already skated!

Doris said it after 4 Nationals, but these 2 are definitely going to be the ones to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Although, I am VERY disappointed that they are the only Polish entries across all the Senior categories.

There are many countries that would like to hold a Senior B. So it is not a good sign for the future of an event when the locals aren't entering!

The Chinese Dance Pair will definitively like Poland for future events. Their last PB was at Warszaw Cup a couple of months ago and now again a PB (in both programs) in Torun.

Kailani

But perhaps most promising to me is the total score. She got 154 at Nationals. So to get 151 here is a validation of her skating (or a comment on how little home scoring Australian skaters get  ).

I guess silver is pretty great and I'm guessing she now has the Worlds FS score as well, but...she could have won this. I will be interested to read the protocols.

EDIT: Kailani's FS was actually at a very user-friendly time here - it started at 6pm. Unfortunately I had family around for dinner so I'm only just sitting down to my computer now.

Now to see Brendan nail more quads and move himself into medal position! You can do it! :cheer:

Mmmm. Interesting.

The Reeds have slipped behind the Turkish and Polish couples after the FD. That said, there was practically nothing between the 3 of them after the SD, and they were all within 4 points of the Chinese leaders, so the top 4 could have finished in any order!

As it happened, the Chinese did hold onto the win, but it was not by much (They only won the FD by 1.04 points). Agafanova / Ucar were second, the impressive local couple third, and the Reeds fourth.

I'm going out shortly, so I will not be able to watch the Men's FS. But, I wish them all the best. Hopefully I will be back in time for the Second Group of the Pairs.

I'm exciting for the upcoming senior men's FS.

At this time, I wish the livestream keeps staying on not like yesterday.

If Chafik lands quads stably, I will be very happy for him since he has been struggling to do so this season.
Romain showed a good SP, so I just wish him keep up the good work!

Now that is interesting, that unlike other countries, there seems to be no national inflation in Australia. That makes her all the more impressive!

That's what happened me with the SP's yesterday. I missed the first group of the Ladies SP because of a family meal.

Since he's third to start, I might be able to wait until Brendan is finished. But, definitely not any later.

The FP music for J. Newberry is really good, March Slave by Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov.
But other than that.....the performance was awful.

Yeah. I find it strange and maybe a good thing that the scores at Australian nationals don't inflate. In some cases, i thought the tech panel was quite harsh. But its good because that means that there is honesty in the scores and you can receive strong feedback.
