2015 World Team Trophy countries announced

With these ladies Russia have a chance to win the whole thing. Men will be deciding factor I think.

Skaters are given a choice to go or not - the sanction is that if they fall into the "required" category and choose not to go they can't participate in any shows over the same period. Presumably people don't want to go because of tiredness & fear of injury, so surely they would not want to do shows for the same reason? I fail to see how this is a huge burden; if you don't want to go, you don't have to, and if you do go, the prize money is a huge reward and more than the skater would make doing say a an SOI date on the same weekend.

Scott was really rude - Patrick was doing his usual foot in mouth thing, but at least giving reasons, Daisuke was politely explaining why some skaters struggle with the event, but "OMG I hate this event" in the kiss & cry to be broadcast to everyone, in front of the organisers and all the fans who had paid to see them is just tacky.

Yes, that's what I think too. Of course things could be better but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea in general. Everybody laments how the sport needs more fans and screen time and a way to grab the general audience and if I'm not wrong quite a few skaters are doing the same. And WTT is a chance to do just that - and than people complain all the same. You can't have the cake and eat it too. If the skaters want to get themselves out there and get the attention and opportunity to get money from figure skating then WTT is a great possibility for that. If they don't then stay home. But wanting it and then still complaining about a possibility, even if it's far from perfect and has it's downsides, IMO is not helping anybody.

As for Scott, he has all the right to not like the WTT and to say so when he's home, in interviews or to call the ISU out on it. All fair game. But IMO, saying it right at this event the way he did, he was being unfair and disrespectful towards the audience there that spent money to see them and had given him cheers and support before. If I would have been in that audience, I think it would have made me feel - for the lack of a better word - spurned and disappointed to hear that.

Well they don't need to practice quads or triple-triples for shows, plus a SP+LP together is not comparable to like 2 exhibition programs where the overall difficult for both programs together probably isn't even on par with the SP. That's not even including the mental component where they have to be in competition mode, I'm sure it's really tired and stressful.

And Patrick does have serious foot in mouth syndrome doesn't he? I hope I don't hear it next season, with his competition right now he should be careful and let his skating speak (as quiet as his blades are :p)

Ok, I hope this is not another false alarm. :slink: I read it and re-read it just to be sure.

Re Team Canada:

Jeremy Ten has tweeted about going to WTT and training for it. Today was his first day back at the rink.

Love Jeremy, but I guess Liam Firus is out of luck re WTT.

BTW, Skate Canada has not officially announced its full WTT team, AFAIK.

Who should be Captain Russia, Yuko or Liza?

I vote for Radionova :) ;).

But seriously? Hoping for Captain Liza :yay:.

Thanks golden411!!!!!!!!!
Do you know if there is a limit date to present the skaters from each country?

Madison Chock is also tweeting about WTT

No surprise since Evan is tweeting. But so far nothing from Jason but dumpling shots; I hope USFS does not wait until Friday:drama:

It's the USFSA we're talking about here. We'll be waiting til Friday.

All silent on the Twitter front amongst the men; however, as Max is a rare Tweeter and Joshua even rarer, that's unsurprising on their part.

Jason sent out a final dumpling run pic recently so it looks like he is still in China.

I think he said in one of his blogs his parents usually try to stay and extra day so they can sight see and what not, so I am not surprised he is slow to return. They may just tell them locally when they get back, between Josh, Max and Jason that is.

And I have been won over, I am on team Max/Jason for WTT, I don't care to justify it, but it is what I want.
